## **Cromer Cares Charity - Chairmans report 2024-2025**

It was another significantly successful year for the Cromer Cares Charity in meeting its aims and reaching residents in our community who needed assistance. This has only been possible due to the very dedicated small group of volunteers and trustees who have demonstrated extraordinary commitment and provided many hours of their time.

Most of that time has once again been spent transporting residents to medical appointments, including hospital appointments, procures, clinics and local GP appointments, with 287 of those having occurred over the course of the year. The transport to these appointments are booked in with a volunteer, who will then spend up to two hours driving the patient to and from the appointment, in addition to any waiting time.

Largely, these patients are older residents who struggle to access appropriate transport in our large rural county, or struggle to do so through limited means.

However, a significant proportion of our time and expenditure has been supporting households with very limited means, with provision of material support. Through significant grant funding we secured, we have supported many individuals and families with costs of energy, food and white goods- cookers, washing machines and refrigerators – as well as everyday essential household items.

We have also been extremely proud to follow others before us in running a project to address bed poverty in our community, addressing the needs of children who do not have a bed to sleep in, or who are sharing beds, or sleeping in otherwise unsuitable or broken beds.

Our calendar year once again ended with commitments over Christmas, including provision of hampers and Christmas meals to isolated, lonely residents with limited means. However, we once again provided an increasingly popular free of charge Christmas Party for local children, with entertainment, food, and Father Christmas providing some presents.

We are extremely grateful to our donors and grant funding organisations who have continued to support every aspect of this work.
