1, Accounting Policies

These financial statements have been prepared in accordance with the Charities Statement of Recommended Practice (SORP) Accounting and Reporting by Charities: Statement of Recommended Practice applicable to charities preparing their accounts in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS 102) (the Charities SORP (FRS 102)) and the Charities Act 2011. The financial statements have been prepared under the historical cost convention.

Basis of Preparation

The financial statements have been prepared on a going concern basis and under the accruals basis of accounting, in accordance with the Charities Statement of Recommended Practice (SORP) (FRS 102).

Incoming Charity Resources

Income from church collections and donations is recognised upon receipt.

Fixed Assets and Depreciation

Tangible fixed assets are recognised where the charity has control of the asset, it is probable that future economic benefits will flow to the charity, and the cost of the asset can be measured reliably. Assets are capitalised where they are intended for long-term use in furtherance of the charity’s objectives and are recorded at cost.

Depreciation is provided on tangible fixed assets on a straight-line basis over their estimated useful economic lives so as to write off the cost of the assets over the periods in which they are expected to be used. Depreciation is charged from the date the asset is available for use. Residual values and useful lives are reviewed annually and adjusted where necessary.

4

Expenditure

Recognition of Expenditure : Expenditure is recognised on an accruals basis when the charity has a legal or constructive obligation to make a payment, it is probable that a transfer of economic benefits will be required, and the amount can be measured reliably.
