Trustee Report for Non-Resident Nepali Association UK (Charity No. 08665379) for the Financial Year 2023-2024

1. Introduction Non-Resident Nepali Association UK (NRNA UK) for the period of 2023-2024. Our charity is committed to supporting Non-Resident Nepali (NRN) communities and delivering on our charitable purposes through a range of initiatives and programs.

2. Key Activities and Achievements

a. Legal Assistance Collaboration (February 2023) On 6th February 2023, NRNA UK organised an interactive programme in Nottingham, United Kingdom, between the Nepal Bar Association and NRNA UK. This event culminated in the signing of an agreement to provide legal assistance to Non-Resident Nepalis (NRNs) who require legal support while in Nepal.

b. Earthquake Relief Fundraising (March 2023) In March 2023, NRNA UK successfully raised funds to provide support to victims of the earthquake in the Bajura District, located in the Far Western part of Nepal. This fundraising eRort demonstrated our commitment to humanitarian aid in times of natural disaster.

c. Election Committee Formation (April 2023) In April 2023, NRNA UK established an Election Committee to oversee the election of the 12th Executive Board, which was scheduled for July 2023. The elections are carried out in alignment with the Non-Resident Nepali Association International Coordination Council (NRNA ICC) regulations, headquartered in Nepal.

d. Yoga and Meditation Event (May 2023) In May 2023, NRNA UK organised a yoga and meditation event aimed at reducing stress and improving the well-being of participants. This event highlighted the importance of mental and physical health within the NRN community.

h. Establishment of Legal Helpdesk in Nepal (July 2023) Following the agreement made in February 2023, a legal helpdesk was established in the Dharan District of Nepal by the Nepal Bar Association. This marks a significant step in providing legal support for NRNs visiting or residing in Nepal.

i. First Meeting of the 12th Executive Board (August 2023) oRicial meeting of the newly elected committee, chaired by President Mr. Hit Kaji Gurung, was convened. A virtual meeting was held earlier on 28th July 2023, immediately after the election results. The first grand welcome event, which took place in August 2023, involved international delegates, where the vision of NRNA UK was outlined.

j. Formation of Department Coordinators (September 2023) In the second meeting, held on 25th September 2023, NRNA UK formed 11 departments within the committee, assigning department coordinators to streamline and enhance the organisation's activities.

k. Charitable Support (December 2023) assistance to a mentally distressed student in Nepal, helping to facilitate his return to Nepal with his family. This charitable act underlines NRNA UK's ongoing support for those in need.
