## **Governance and management**
The Charity was registered in England and Wales on 1 October 2021 under number 1196004. All activities and assets from the Scottish Registered Charity: The Albino Fellowship known as Albinism Fellowship were transferred to this charity. The charity continues the same activities as previously run by Albinism Fellowship
## **Objectives and activities**
The charity's objects are to:
- To preserve and protect the health of people with Albinism and their families and carers.
- Providing information about Albinism, including to Professionals working with and advising people with Albinism and other appropriate interested parties.
- Raising positive awareness of the condition.
- Arranging opportunities for people with Albinism and their families to meet for support and encourage the sharing of experiences.
- Proving such other information, advice and support as the Trustees deem appropriate.
## **Summary of the main activities undertaken for the public benefit**
The services we offer include:
Twice yearly magazine, Albinism Life.
- Website resource.
- Local support and events through Contact Persons.
- Telephone or email support on 07946 457979 or at info@albinisrn.org.uk Conference every two years or so.

## **Albinism Fellowship**
In shaping our objectives for the year and planning our activities the trustees have considered the Charity Commission guidance on public benefit.
## **Summary of the main achievements during the period**
Conference October 2022 We were pleased to be able to hold a very successful conference in October 2022 engaging with families, adults and young people. The conference was oversubscribed.
During the year we continued holding zoom meetings for parents of newly diagnosed children, adults with albinism and young people. We also had a very well attended family day in London in June 2022.
for children with albinism, to welcome them to the Albinism Fellowship community. The gifts are a sun hat, sun cream samples, baby sunglasses, a sensory toy, and a black & white board book plus our Understanding Albinism booklet. The feedback we have had has been really positive. We are very grateful to the Four Acre Trust for funding this scheme.
## Providing information and support
to join our charity, book to attend events, email us or to make a donation with ease. We are really proud that all the images on the website are of our members and that these reflect the diversity of our membership. During the year the website was rebuilt and development continues.

The vast majority of enquiries to the Fellowship come via our website and Facebook pages. All emails sent to the charity are channelled through our online OS Ticket system. Enquiries range from contacts from new families seeking advice, requests from the media, opportunities to link with other sight loss charities and information about new products and gadgets. These are shared across our trustees. We continue to receive a small amount of postal communication and trustee Akeel Bari does a good job of fielding messages left on our phone advice line.
We promote our activities through our Facebook page and Twitter.
## Membership
Our membership is slowly growing via our website and we are really encouraging just forget to renew each year. We still have some old memberships to transfer to the website but hope this will be completed soon.

## **Fundraising**
Despite the Covid situation our fantastic members have still fundraised for us which
are enormously grateful for all donations large and small. We are now able to claim back Gift aid which will really help our finances as this enable an extra 25% on donated income providing we have a signed Gift aid form from donors. Membership can also be claimed for Gift Aid.
## **Plans for the future**
We are working with other organisations to help reach as many families and individuals affected by albinism as we can. We also want to improve our new website to attract more members. Since the year end we have held family days in London and Dublin.
We are planning a conference in November 2023 so we can all meet and support adults and young people and families. The 2022 Conference was oversubscribed and a decision was taken to run a conference a year after the 2022 conference rather than the usual 2 year gap between conferences.
## **Financial review**
subscriptions and donations totalling £10,678 and fees for the October 2022 conference and deposits for the October 2023 event. We were very grateful to receive a donation to support the filming of the 2022 conference and a grant to support childcare of the 2023 conference. Unrestricted reserves carried forward at 31 March 2023 were £5,455. Restricted funds were £10,785 at 31 March 2023.
## **Reserves Policy**
It is the policy of the charity that unrestricted funds which have not been designated for a specific use should be maintained at a level equivalent to between three and six month's expenditure. The major part of unrestricted funds is built up to support the cost of running the conference. The trustees consider that reserves at this level will ensure that, in the event of a significant drop in funding, they will be able to continue the charity's current activities while consideration is given to ways in which additional funds may be raised.

## **Independent e report to the trustees of Albinism Fellowship for the year ended 31 March 2023**
I report to the trustees on my examination of the accounts of Albinism Fellowship (the charity) for the year ended 31 March 2023.
## **Responsibilities and basis of report**
As the trustees of the charity you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts
section 145 of the 2011 Act and in carrying out my examination I have followed all the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Act.
I have completed my examination. I confirm that no matters have come to my attention in connection with the examination giving me cause to believe that in any material respect:
1. accounting records were not kept in respect of the charity as required by section 130 of the Act; or
2. the accounts do not accord with those records.
I have no concerns and have come across no other matters in connection with the examination to which attention should be drawn in this report in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
