OBJECTIVES AND ACTIVITIES
The main objective of the Charity is to promote, advance and improve for the benefit of the public, agriculture, horticulture and rural crafts and skills by the demonstration and showing of livestock, machinery, crafts, products, methods and processes connected with agriculture and agricultural education in particular by the holding of annual agricultural and equestrian shows.
ACHIEVEMENTS AND PERFORMANCE
Gilsland Agricultural Society held an agricultural show during the summer of 2024; a successful event which met the organisations objectives.
FINANCIAL REVIEW
As anticipated the Charity made a deficit during the year as a result of income being carried forward from the 2023 show which did not take place. The 2023 accounts showed a surplus of £3,162 which comfortable covers the 2024 deficit.
The reserve policy of the Charity is to hold sufficient funds to ensure the organisation could continue, should it, for two years running, have to cancel annual shows "on the day" due to unforeseen circumstances. It is estimated the cost of doing so would be in the region of £10,000 and hence the Charity is comfortable in holding reserves of £20,120
