## **Drummond Gospel Hall**

Registered Charity Number 1195957 (England and Wales)

## **Annual report for the period ended 31/12/2022**

## **Trustees**

At the end of the year, the trustees were

- Mark Francis Anness

- John Michael Farley

- Derek Charles Walter Sercombe

## **Objects**

The objects of the CIO are

- To advance the Christian faith for the public benefit in accordance with the statement of beliefs and practices in the Schedule hereto attached in Bournemouth and in such other parts of the United Kingdom or the world as the charity trustees may from time to time think fit;

- To prevent and relieve poverty and financial hardship in Bournemouth and in such other parts of the United Kingdom or the world as the charity trustees may from time to time think fit.

## **Scope of the report**

The CIO was incorporated on 28/9/2021.

The scope of this first annual report is from 28/9/2021 to 31/12/2022. This, therefore, represents the first fifteen months of the CIO’s existence.

## **The Assembly that meets at Drummond Gospel Hall**

The CIO exists to assist with the administration of the funds of the Assembly that meets at Drummond Gospel Hall, Drummond Road, Bournemouth.

During the period covered by this report, the number in fellowship in the Assembly has dropped so that there are now about 15 who are able to meet. Some of those in fellowship are more elderly and this affects the activities that can be carried out.

## **Activities**

Assembly activities

The Assembly continues to meet regularly each week for the Breaking of Bread, Worship, Prayer, Bible teaching and Gospel preaching.

However, the reduced numbers has meant that the weekly coffee morning has had to be discontinued.

There are no activities which are provided specifically for vulnerable adults of children.

At Easter and Christmas, supper was arranged for after the services on the Sunday evenings. Invitations were given to about 1000 households in the area around Drummond Gospel Hall. At Christmas, a similar number of calendars were distributed, also in the neighbourhood of the hall.

Support for full time Christian workers and evangelists continues with regular monthly offerings by the members of the congregation specifically for this purpose. These offerings provide, typically, more than the other offerings for the running of the Assembly. The gifts that are given are supplemented from general funds as well.

In particular, there have been two offerings made for work undertaken by a similar Assembly in Lutsk, Ukraine. £3,000 has been sent which has helped to support daily feeding of over 200 people who have faced difficulties following the Russian invasion of Ukraine. This number includes many children for whom an orphanage has been under construction for some time.

Funds have been given to another charity, Operation Brotherly Love (Registration Number 1037681), to help with refugees arriving from Ukraine and for the Care Home that they run. Operation Brotherly Love operates in Romania.

In December 2021, a gift was sent to an orphanage “The Hiding Place” run by missionaries in Albania. In February 2022, a gift was sent to Brass Tacks, another charity (Registration Number 298767) which gives practical help, particularly with building work, to missionaries in different parts of the world.

Other missionaries and full time evangelists were supported in Brazil, Botswana, Angola and elsewhere.

## CIO activities

The CIO met a number of times during the year and assisted the Assembly with these gifts.

## **Accounts**

We note, from the guidance given on the Charity Commission website (Charity Reporting - paragraph 1.4), that the accounts to not require external examination as the gross income is less that £25,000.

The accounts have been kept by a qualified bookkeeper and audited internally by a former Building Society Auditor.

Bank accounts

Funds are held as follows:

_General operating funds – Current Account at Santander plc_

General operating funds comprise:

- Restricted funds – those specified for a particular purpose. In all cases, this has been for supporting missionaries and mission work

- Unrestricted funds – offerings made for the running of the Assembly and maintenance of the building

_Reserve funds – Teachers Building Society_

These funds are result the of a grant that was made when the hall was rebuilt during 1999-2000, together with some legacies. The fund is kept in case of more substantial work being needed on the building fabric.
