To further or benefit the residents of Grangetown and the neighbourhood, without distinction of sex, sexual orientation. race or of political, religious or other opinions, by associating together the said residents and the local authorities, volunlary and other organisations in a common effort to advance education and to provide facilities in the interests of social welfare for recreation and leisure time ottupation with the objective of improving the conditions of life for the residents. In furtherance of these objects but not otherwise, the trustees shall have power- To establish or secure the establishment of a community centre and to maintain or manage or co- operate with any statutory authority in the maintenance and m3nagement of such a centre for activities promoted by the charity in furtherance of the above objects. At the time of this report the CIO has riow successfully taken full control and management of the entire building as planned from l April 2024 and have undertaken further reconfiguration and appropriate refurbishment to further enhance and modernise to meet residents needs. We Cufrently occupy the building on a License to occupy whilst OLtr lease negotiations contin¢Je, we are hopeful that a full repair and lease will be agreed prior to April 2025 on a 25years peppercorn. The cio from November 2023 has also expanded to a secorkd 51te IBirkdale COmmnity Centrel successfully a8reeing a 5year peppercorn lease with local Housing Association (Beyond Housing) who is a good partner and supporter of the CIO, We continue to run several support groups, activities, 3nd projects from both facilities, which are all growing in strength. whilst providing safe and welcoming Spaces for education and leisure opportunities and space ft)r hire to members of the community and partner organisations. Supported by a dedicated team of 13 Volunteers. Strutture.
