Report of the Trustees
The Trustees present their report with the financial statements of the charity for the year ending
24th September 2025. The Trustees have adopted the provisions ofAccounting and Reporting by
Charities. Statement Of Recommended Practice applicable to charities preparingtheir
accounts in accordance with the Financial Reportingstandards in the UK and Republic of.
Ireland(FRS 102) effective 1"January 2019.
Objectives and Activities.
The purpose of the charity as set out in its governing document is the relief of povety
experienced byveterans and theirfamilies in England and Wales by providing long-term support
to those seekingto become financially independentthrough Self-Employment, using allthe
skills and knowledge acquired before, during, and after their Military Service.
Significant Activities.
The following activities have been undertaken in support of the Charitable objectives:_
Promotion of Self-Reliance.
Self-employment enables those we help to rebuild their lives through financial security. Our
active support is provided without charge for months and years and includes:_
Assist with creating brief business plan, assess competition, costings, budgets(Business and
Domestic), marketing etc
"Compliance, Regulation, Accountancy, HMRC registration,
"Link with other organisations willing to support eg: Solicitors, Insurance brokers, Web
designers, Debt management, Housing, IT Suppliers and Printers.
Statutory Information.
When lives have been disrupted by poor health, family breakdown and homelessness, those we
support often face additional hurdles having Lost vital personal information which we obtain for
them such as:_

Public Benefit
Veterans Business Base are aware of, have considered and regularly reviewthe Charity
Commission's Public Benefit Guidance to ensure that the activities undertaken are relevant.
•The Trustees believe that the Charity has only charitable purposes which are carried out for the
Public Benefit of the Armed Forces Community in England and Wales.
Grant Making
Veterans Business Base does not award grants to organisations or individuals.

Volunteers
We have grown our network of 10 volunteers who assist the charity, using all their knowledge
acquired from time spent in the Armed Forces, living on the street, overcoming poor health,
incurring&ebts and more. With this knowledge and experience, the volunteers assist those
seeking our help to become Self-employed, by helpingthem to overcome hurdles Including
homelessness, registèrwith a GP., domestic budgeting, and reconnectingtherri with theirfamily
and friends. All the volunteers, support is undertaken at their own expense.
Achievements and Performance
'Overthe past12 months Veterans Business Base has assisted 105 Veterans seeking Start-up
advice through face-to-face meetings followed by regular, supportive contact.
*Veterans Business Base support our veterans in SIX H.M. Prisons and in the last year have met
323 Veterans seeking advice regarding Self-employment. Given the difficulties encountered by
those tryingto obtain work- who have a criminal record - manyveterans recognise thatthrough
Self-employmentthey increase the chances of becomingfinancially secure. We support our
veterans"Through The Gate" followingtheir discharge. Also:_
"We Link up with any organisation able and willing to workwith ourveterans i.e. Veterans Hubs,
the NHS, Local Councils, DWP, the Probation Service and many others.
Referrals are received from Royal British Legion, SSAFA and otherArmed Forces Charities
Through our active, Long-term support for veterans wishingto Start-up in business, we build
their seLf-beLief and confidence, often absent in those who have suffered. Through working with
veterans for over 16 years, we recognise that they are a National Asset whose contribution to
our Country continues foryears after leavingthe Armed Forces.
Financial Review
Veterans Business Base receives some fundingthrough grants..The majority of the charities
operational costs continue to. be met bythe Joint Founders of the Charity.
Reserves Policy. The target policy is to create funds equivalent to 6 months operational costs
and 3 moths of expenditure on administration.
Future Plans
The charity's future plans are entirely focussed on assisting veterans to become financially
secure through Self-Employment. And to raised funds to contribute to the runnihg costs, given
the increase in the number of veterans seeking our services.
Structure, Governance and Management.
Governing Document.
Veterans Business Base is governed within the bounds of the Charity's constitution which is
structure so as to perform as a charitable Incorporated Organisation in accordance with the
Charity Commissions CIO Foundation Model.

The Charity is constituted as a CIO in accordance with the Charity Commissions CIO
Foundation Model.
Recruitment and Appointment of new Trustees
Trustees are selected by the existing board of Trustees in consultation with the Charity's Chief
Executive Officer.
Statement of Trustees Responsibilities
The Trustees are responsible for preparing the Report of the Trustees and the Financial
Statement in accordance with applicable law and United Kingdom Accounting
Standards(United Kingdom Accepted Accounting Practice).
The law applicable to charities in England and Wales, the Charities Act 2011 (Accounts &
Reports) Regulations 2008 and the provision of the trust deed requires the Trustees to prepare
financial statements for each financial year which give a true and fair view of the state of affairs
of the charity and of the incoming resources and application of resources, including the income
and expenditure of the charityfor that period.
The Trustees are responsible for keeping proper accounting records which disclose with
reasonable accuracy at any time the financial position of the charity and enable them to ensure
thatthe financial statements complywith the Charities Act 2011, the Charity(Accounts and
Reports) Regulations 2008 and provisions ofthe trust deed. They are also responsible for
safeguarding the assets of the charity and taking reasonable steps forthe operation and
detection of fraud and other irregularities.
