The trustees present their annual report and finanaal statements for the year ended 30 September 2024.
The financial statements have been prepared in accordanc£ with the accounting poliaes set out in note 1 to the

charity should undertake.

In 2023-24, we continued our core work of publishing diamond open-access, peer reviewed, multilingual, and
artic16-length tutorials (often referred to as 'lessons'l. We also undertook a number of noteworthy tasks."

- We expanded the discoverabilty of our publications by listing them on EBSCO.
- We celebrated the publication of our 2501h ariide.. and

We opened the year wrth 29 instrtutional partn&rs, 3 of whom w&re 'gold bef partners, and clos&d the year with 34
partners, 4 of whom were 'gold tier partners. Our strategy is to gr￿ over 40 inslrtutional partners by year end
2024-25.
Web anatytics showed our page views fell slighity to 650.OCK) (hair of whKh are classified as 'engaged sessions'l
from 370.000 active user5. 14.7rn impressions were regislered via Google Search during the period. leading to

The Charity's finances have improved steadity as rt has conb.nued to grow in its fifth year Sin￿ incorporab.ng as a
company limited by guarantee.
There was a surplus for the year of £1.351 12023.. £2.8431 and unrestricted fvnds at 30th September 2024 stood at
£31,55712023.' £30.1401. During the year total Incor￿ was £52.525 {2023.' £38.0841, wilh expenditure of £51,174

Reserves policy
It is the policy of the chanty that unrestrided lunds whith have not been designated for a speufic use should be
maintained at a level equivalent to belween three and six month's expenditure. The trustees consider that reserves
al this level will ensure that, in the event of a signrficant drop in funding. they will be able to continue the charity's
current activities while considerabon is given lo ways in which addrtional funds may be raised. This level of reserves
has been maintained and surpassed in Ihe year with unrestricled reserves at the year end at £31,557.

1.1 Accounting convention
The financial statements have been prepared in accordancè vAth thè charity's goveming document, the
Companies Act 2006, FRS 102 "The Finanaal Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of
Ireland I"FRS 102.1 and the Charities SORP "Accounting and Reporting by Charities.. Statement of
Recommended Practice applicable to charit￿S preparing Iheir accounts in accordance with the Financial
Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic ol Ireland IFRS 1021. leffeclive 1 January 20191. The
charity is 8 Public Benefit Entity as defined by FRS 102.
The charity has taken advantage of the provisions in the SORP for charities not to prepare a Statement of
Cash Flows.
The financial statements are prepared in steding. which is the funcb'onal ojrrenry of the charity. Monetary

Unrestricted funds are available for use at the discretion of the irustees in furtherance of their charitable

purposes and uses of the restricied lunds are set out in the notes to the finanaal statements.
Endowment lunds are subject to specthc conditions by donors that the capital must be maintained by the
chanty.

activity are allocated direclty to that activity. Shared costs which contribute to more than one activity and

consistent with the use of resources. Central staff costs are allocated on the basis of time spent. and
