The Objecl of Ihe CIO is the advan￿ment of the
Christian faith, in particular (but without limitalionl by
providing worship. prayer and Christian teaching.
Bridgeway supports refugees and asylum seekers from
Eastem and Middle Easlern countries to integrate well
inlo local cJ)mmunities. The area covered by the charity

There are opporlunities to s￿l811se. monthly socials
for refugees to mix with English and other
nationalities. Generally around 40 each month, nol
always the same people, so we have reached over

Refugees visited the Wam Space gatherings in a
local town centre church.
A grant allowèd the purthase of 6 air f￿rS with
lessons on using them in lh8 Cost-of-living crisis.
Volunteers from amongst the asylum seekers hav8
assisied wih heavy food shopping.
Bridgeway was represented at Celebrat￿nS for
Colthester becoming a city.. the deputy mayor
opened our city-C8ntr6 premises.. we have lak8n
part in events to raise awareness of diversity and
charity work in the city, with Middle-Eastern
volunteers helping there.
All activities include opportunities to practiS8 English
conversation with volunteers

activities through presence at events and connections
with local sec￿lar and laith organisations.

Achievements and Performance

The acquisition of a small shop premises in the city in
August 2022 has allowed Bridgeway to consolidate ils
presence and its work. The premises provid8 a place for
fundraising. a local cenire for families 10 collect food, to
use the internet hub. 10 socialise and 10 take part in
activities. albeit in small numbers.

The links forged with a local Methodist Church are of
mutual benefit and encouragemènt to all.
The cosi-of-living crisis could have been an extremely
severe problem lor families alraady living on th8
breadlinè. but thanks actions suth as Warm Space and
granl-makers who have focussed funds on helping
peop￿ worsl-affected, we have been able to a¢¢ess
funds 10 help alleviate the problems.
Cultural events have celebrated home-ojuntry events
such as Eid and NOWTUZ. Also British leisure activities
such as a visit 10 Colchestèr Zoo, a day at the seaside.

Circumslances {especially the cost-of-living crisis)
have helped us lo acquiie several small grants to
support many refugees and asylum seekers with
food and aclivities that aim lo keep people healthy.
This situation will probably beo)me more diff icult, bul
we are still hopeful.
The healthy finanrial positi￿1 in 2022 - 2023 has
relied partly on low stsffing costs which musl be
increased if Ihe charity is to operale suslainably. We
are hopefrJl and determined lo Su￿ed here.

In a case of sudden loss ol income we need to be

costs on our premises, and lo pay the manager's
salary while Bridgeway supports its community and

charrty (Wbe Trust.) for the year ended 1910412023.
Responsibilities and
basis of report
As the Ghanty's trustees. you are responsible for the preparation of the
accounts in aGcordance vrith the ￿qUirernents of the Charities Act 2011
(Ihe AGr).
I report in resFect of my examination of the Trust's acKounts carried out
under section 145 of the 2011 Act and in carying out my examination, I
have followed all the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission
under sedion 145{5)Ib) of the Act.

examiner's statement I have ccrfnpleted my examination. I confirm that no material matters have
come to my attention in connection with the examination which gives ffle
C2use to believe Ihat in. any material respect..
the accounting records were not kept in accordan¢e wilh section 130
of the Charities Act.. or
