## **Trustees' Annual Report – Lola’s Homeless Ladder CIO For the Year Ended 28[th] Feb 2024** 

## **Objectves and Actvites** 

The mission of Lola's Homeless Ladder CIO is to provide essential support and resources to vulnerable individuals and families in our community. Through a network of dedicated volunteers and trustees, we aim to offer practical assistance to those in need, promoting dignity, well-being, and resilience. 

## **Achievements and Performance** 

## **Supporting Families and Individuals** 

- **Furniture Donations** : Three new homes were furnished with donated items: 

   - A 50+ year-old mother. 

   - A 25+ year-old woman with three children. 

   - A single male. 

      - Deliveries were managed in Newham, Dagenham, and Leyton by trustees and volunteers, including Maureen, Stella, Lorraine, and Cheryl. 

- **Support for a Sick Individual** : Clothing was purchased and delivered to a seriously ill male patient at Newham General Hospital to assist with his recovery. 

- **Support for Rebuilding Life** : A mother, Joanne, was supported in rebuilding her life. Her flat was fully furnished with essentials, from a toothbrush to a washing machine. Joanne publicly thanked Lola’s Homeless Ladder in a social media post. 

- **Support for an Elderly Lady** : Essential mobility items, including a walker and commode, were donated to an elderly lady in Plaistow. 

## **Clothing, Emergency, and Seasonal Support** 

- **Domestic Violence Survivors** : Emergency clothing, including underwear, socks, and knickers, was purchased for a domestic violence survivor in urgent need. 

- **Summer Essentials** : Distributed much-needed summer essentials, including sun cream, water, face caps, and wet wipes, to vulnerable individuals. 

- **Winter Emergency Packs** : Fifty rucksacks filled with winter essentials were distributed in January to vulnerable individuals. 

## **Food and Household Essentials** 

- **Christmas Event 2023** : This was a highlight of the year. The event, which supported 216 individuals, including children, mums, homeless individuals, and families, involved: 

   - Over £3,000 spent, raised through appeals on Lola’s platform. 

   - Each individual or family receiving at least two full carrier bags filled with hot food, warm clothing, treats, gifts, and shopping vouchers. 

   - Leftover items donated to the Elf Cap Disability Centre, Crisis at Christmas, and Haven House. 

- **Food Distribution** : Food donations from Manor Road School, Stratford, and Salisbury School were distributed via Helping Hands to those in need. 

- **Household Appliances** : Essential large items such as fridges, freezers, washing machines, cookers, sofas, and armchairs were donated to families. Delivery costs were covered by the charity, including van hire and petrol expenses. 

## **Community Partnerships and Donations** 

- **Schools' Contributions** : 



   - Manor Road School organised a Christmas collection of food, toiletries, and cash donations. 

   - Salisbury School donated their Harvest Festival goods. 

   - Number Eight donated £300, and Manor School contributed an additional £235. 

- **Asian Clothing for Children** : Over 100 brand-new Asian dresses for children were donated and distributed by Stella. 

## **Other Contributions and Activities** 

- Large items such as dining tables and chairs were distributed to families. 

- Tents for two families were donated and delivered by Helen Page. 

- Surplus items from garage clear-outs were sent to the Courtney Hotel to aid displaced families from war-affected areas. 

## **Volunteers and Community Impact** 

Our dedicated volunteers, including Lorraine, Maureen, Stella, Cheryl, and Lilly, played a crucial role in delivering items across Newham and surrounding areas. Their efforts ensured that resources reached the most vulnerable, including individuals in hostels, domestic violence survivors, and families in crisis. 

## **Financial Overview** 

- **Income** : £36,513.20 

- **Expenditure** : £14,849.53 

- **Closing Balance** : £37,641.06 

The charity remains financially stable, allowing us to continue supporting individuals and families in need. 

## **Plans for the Future** 

In the coming year, we aim to: 

1. Expand our outreach to support more individuals and families across Newham and neighbouring areas. 

2. Strengthen partnerships with schools, local organisations, and donors to increase our impact. 

3. Develop more sustainable processes for managing donations and deliveries.

I report to the trustees on my examination of the accounts of the above charity (“the Trust”) for the year ended **29 / 02 / 2024** . 

**Responsibilities and** As the charity's trustees, you are responsible for the preparation of the **basis of report** accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 (“the Act”). 

I report in respect of my examination of  the Trust’s accounts carried out under section 145 of the 2011 Act and in carrying out my examination, I have followed all the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Act. 

## **Independent** The charity’s gross income did not exceed £250,000. **examiner's statement** 

I have completed my examination. I confirm that no material matters have come to my attention in connection with the examination (other than that disclosed below *) which gives me cause to believe that in, any material respect: 

- the accounting records were not kept in accordance with section 130 of the Charities Act; or 

- the accounts did not accord with the accounting records; or
