Other Trustees: Dr Sonia Wardan ## **ACC(W) 12 Monthly Report** Trustees' report (summary) For the year ended 31 March 2023 The Trustees confirm that the Annual report and financial statements of the Charitable incorporated Organisation (CIO) comply with the current statutory requirements, the requirements of the charity's governing document, Constitution, and the provisions of the Statements of Recommended Practice (SORP), applicable to charities preparing their accounts in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS102). ## **Objectives and Activities** To provide or assist in the provision of facilities in the interest of social welfare for recreation or other leisure time occupation of individuals who have need of such facilities by reason of their youth, age, infirmity, financial hardship or social circumstances with the object of improving their conditions of life. Each year our Trustees review our objectives and activities to ensure they continue to reflect our aims. In carrying out this review the Trustees have considered the Charity Commission's general guidance on public benefit. The Trustees have complied with the duty in section 17 of the Charities Act 2011 to have due regard to public benefit guidance published by the Commission. The Charity is responsible for management and activities in the Armenian Community Centre at 18D High Street, Llandaff CF5 2DZ. The Trustees have continued to provide a suitable and convenient place for the Armenian Community & members of other communities for cultural and social activities. This is aimed at improving the life of the members, wider public and new families settling in Wales, the UK. ## **Achievements and performance** - Library - The majority of the books are now in. We will require extra shelving which is being organised & cataloging of the books is continuing. Looking for volunteers to undertake these activities. - Sunday School attendance has improved with a new volunteer tutor. - Art & Design - Delighted to say that the Children and members of the community are looking forward to display their works at the Centre. - Organised Events - Specific events that have taken place in addition or in place of the Bi Monthly meetings **.** Two events are pinned: 7th Nov 2022, 27th March 2023. - Future events agreed will be on 10th April, 24th April, 15th May, 9th October, 30th October 6th Nov & 28th December. - The Frequency of Community meetings have increased from the initial monthly to twice monthly on the 2[nd] & 4[th] Sunday of each month. - We were delighted to have AM/MP’s attending regularly at the memorial. - Who has attended - Armenians, Welsh, English, Iraqi Christians, Kurds, Uzbeks, Russians. - From where - Cardiff, London, Swindon, Swansea, Bridgend, Carmarthen, Llyn Peninsula, & Bedwas. - Hy – Design products to be introduced for sale on-line and at the Centre. - We welcome members of the Iraqi Christian Community who are - now registered members of the ACC(W). - The Centre is open to public after the school session ends, from 1:30 pm. - Great work is done by the community members; however, more volunteers are needed to work on social media platforms and increase our on-line accessibility. ## **EQUIPMENT** - Children Play room and School Books. We are delighted to see that books and learning aids continue to be donated. - Art Classroom is getting equipped – in progress - Dining Room and Kitchen are now fully equipped to cater for 50+. - Chairs, Tables, Plates, Cups etc have all been donated. Thank you. - Meeting Room has now TV & Sound System (improvement required) - Lacking; Large TV/Display & Library Shelving ## **GOVERNANCE** Regular Trustee meeting are crucial for the exchange of ideas & the decision making process. These are held at the Centre during the year. ## **I.T. & WEBSITE** We are pleased to say that we are well advanced in the development the ACC(W) website to include; ACC(W) e-mail address On Line Shop for Hy Design and Books On Line Library to be incorporated in to the existing community website and to be catalogued. Website is updated frequently with new and upcoming events. ## **FINANCES** ## **ACCOUNTS** The annual Accounts are produced in preparation for submission to the CC and HMRC. Corp Tax - Not applicable but will need to fill in tax comp to confirm. We are now registered for Gift Aid and hope to make the first submission shortly While the bank balance is not large, we do not foresee a situation where the Centre is unable to operate. Costs where possible have been minimised thus ensuring the maximum amount has been collected for Good Causes. Number of employees is zero. ## **FUND RAISING** - The Half Marathon has raised £435 - Donations Box in Reception has received £458 - The rest of the monies have been as a result of direct donations (restricted and unrestricted) ## **DONATIONS** - Bursary for Armenian Students in Cardiff - £150.00 - St Davids Cathedral from Unrestricted funds £250.00 - Klingen Choir charity donation from Restricted funds £130 - Further Donations to good causes will be identified and agreed in due course.
