## **Annual Report of Trustees of the Rotary Club of Stratford 2022-23**

As we reflect on the year 2022-23, we acknowledge the lingering aftereffects of the COVID-19 pandemic that have significantly impacted our activities and operations. The challenges we faced were multifaceted, particularly in our fundraising efforts, which saw a noticeable downturn as the community and our resources were in a phase of recovery.

The pandemic also affected our volunteer base. Initially, we experienced a reduction in the number of volunteers, which presented a considerable challenge. However, through the resilience and dedication of our remaining members, and with renewed outreach efforts, we were able to gradually rebuild our volunteer base and welcome new, passionate individuals into our fold.

Despite these challenges, the Rotary Club of Stratford achieved significant milestones over the past year. Our Annual Awards Function was a resounding success, where we had the privilege of recognizing over 40 community groups and individuals for their exceptional contributions. Of these, we were able to mentor four, providing them with guidance and support to further their initiatives. Additionally, we engaged in volunteering and fundraising activities for five of these groups, exemplifying our ongoing commitment to fostering community development and support.

One of the highlights of the year was the success of the Sickle Cell Charity Ball, which raised crucial funds for a cause that remains close to our hearts. This event not only raised awareness but also brought the community together in support of those affected by sickle cell disease.

Our longstanding commitment to global health initiatives continues to be a cornerstone of our work. The Rotary Club of Stratford remains deeply involved in Polio Eradication and Leprosy Control, two areas where we believe we can make a lasting impact. Our efforts in these areas have not wavered, and we continue to collaborate with international partners to move closer to our goals.

Additionally, our focus on skill development for local community leaders has seen promising results. Through programs like PM Skills for Life and Human-Centred Design Thinking, we are equipping individuals with the tools they need to drive positive change in their communities. These initiatives are vital to our mission of empowering local leaders and ensuring sustainable development.

In closing, while the year presented challenges, it also offered opportunities for growth and renewal. We are proud of the strides we have made and remain committed to our mission of service above self. As we look ahead, we are confident that the Rotary Club of Stratford will continue to be a force for good, both locally and globally.

Thank you to all our members, volunteers, and supporters for your unwavering dedication and hard work. Together, we are making a difference.
