Summary of the main
achievements of the charity
during the year
Hazelnut Bristol
Hazelnut Church Bristol
Hazelnut Community Bristol has been meeting for worship in the
gardenlchurchyard of St Anne's, Bristol, since March 2023. This year we
have continued to deepen our rhythms of Christian spirituality. This year
we have
Run a gardening basics course
Growing in our new location
[] Giving food to coexist community kitchen
Growing through local people and Hong Kongers
[] Joint collaboration with St. Anne's
D Safeguarding
We have been pleased to have Jon Davies as our safeguarding officer at
Hazelnut Bristol. Clare Fussell is our trustee with responsibilities for
safeguarding.
This year we have worked with the Diocese of Bristol to have an up-to-
date rigorous safeguarding policy. We have continued to put policies in
place to encourage safeguarding best practice. Our Trustees have now
all been DBS checked as well. We have a standing item regarding
safeguarding at every trustee meeting. This year we have had no
safeguarding issues. Next year we will aim to continue to develop robust
policies.
Conservation
This spring based on the audit we carried out last year we have
Installed 3 new water butts
Started a new hot composting system
A new pond has been installed to encourage more biodiversity
Community engagement
We continue to utilize our seed library that is a mixture of British
Heirloom seeds and seeds that represent local cultures. Many seeds
have been given out in order to equip and encourage local growers.
We also hosted the BS5 Together event which welcomed over 300 local
people from East Bristol, representing the diversity of the community.
We have seen growth in local families and young people, with an
average of 4 new mums and 9 young people joining us on Thursdays.
We have launched a program for teenagers to be equipped as eco
champions, and hired Grace as a youth worker to run this program.
We have had many open days including, harvest, Christmas around the
fire, summer garden day, and a concert. Through these events alone we
have had over 900 people attend.
O Hong Kong
We have had a large number of families who have resettled from Hong
Kong join our community. We have an average of 5 families come on a
Sunday to our Church service with new families coming each week.
El Collaboration
We have continued to be a Partner in Action with A Rocha which has
been an amazing collaboration with another conservation charity.

Section D
Achievements and performance
We have been able to collaborate with St. Anne's not only through use of
their garden. We have also had joint events and John has preached at
their church.
Network
O Hazelnut Community
Hazelnut Community, is our network designed to support churches in
creating eco congregations on their land in order to deepen worship,
welcome their community, and combat climate breakdown.
- We have created 15 new resources
The network has grown to 21 churches and 5 dioceses on board, with
others preparing to join. We also hired a network project coordinator
to help support this growth.
We are working to relaunch our Potting Shed training program and
expect 15 participants to start in September. In addition, we have
launched a new eco-conference called Landscapes, scheduled for
September 2025 but already a year in the planning.

## **Independent examiner’s report to the trustees of Hazelnut Community Farm**

I report to the trustees on my examination of the accounts of Hazelnut Community Farm (the Charity) for the year ended 31 March 2025.

## **Responsibilities and basis of report**

As the charity trustees of the Charity you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 (‘the Act’). I report in respect of my examination of the Charity’s accounts carried out under section 145 of the 2011 Act and in carrying out my examination I have followed all the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Act.

## **Independent examiner’s statement**

I have completed my examination. I confirm that no material matters have come to my attention in connection with the examination giving me cause to believe that in any material respect:

1. accounting records were not kept in respect of the Charity as required by section 130 of the Act; or

2. the accounts do not accord with those records.

I have no concerns and have come across no other matters in connection with the examination to which attention should be drawn in this report in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
