e have provided paid employment to two
eneficiaries, both of whom are experiencing
paid work environment for the first
ime. We have helped deal with the
hallenges that that represents because of
heir neurodiversity and mental health
oncems e.g. loud sounds. the stress of
eing in the company of others, dealing with
trangers and leaming new skills. They have
o be presentable, punctual and leam how to
ke instruclton and ask for help and
larifications when needed. The charity

hat each beneficiary can make progress in
adapting to tt)is unfamiliar environment. This
might be starting later in the day as they
often experience sleep issues and ensuring
hat adequate breaks are taken so they can
eal with any sensory or other stressors. As
hey are paid, it helps them develop practical
nd lrfe skills as they learn to deal with their
wn money.
s a group, autistic individuals find it hard to
nter the workplace with only 300A being in
employment (Buckland Report 2024}. By
helping them into employment where there is
clearer understanding of what adjuslments
re need to be made to redu￿ slress often
resent in a work place, they are able to gain
Dre Independen￿ which benefits them and
society.
e hope that the charity will provide a first
step into the world of employment.
Now in our third year, we have succeeded in
becoming self-financed via the sale of
onated goods via our eBay store. As the
market became more competitive and
sales of IT items declir)ed we have sold
more non-IT related items. All of the
income was applied to the payment of wages
or the beneficiaries and the balance applied
o the costs of running the charity and paying
or premises to store the donated goods and
r the beneficiaries to work in. The shortfall
as met from reserves.
