Public Benefit & Activities

When reviewing the charity’s aims and objectives and in planning future activities, the Trustees pay due regard to the public benefit of guidance issued by the Charity Commission.

The Sorkhod Afghanistan Trust (SAT) supports the work of Afghan Chenar, a health and social care organisation, based in Jalalabad, Afghanistan which was set up in 2018. The Government Ministry of Health currently offer support to the organisation.

Money is used to pay rent, tax, food, salaries, utilities, medicines and medical equipment Afghan Chenar is one of the few health care facilities available in the area. It sees on average 300 patients a month providing a range of services including treating ailments, dressing wounds and midwifery. The clinic also provides a feeding programme for 200+ children, which delivers approximately 800 meals a week, and offers a basic education for nearly 100 boys and girls.
