REPORT OF THE TRUSTEES

The Trustees present their report, together with the financial statement for the year ended 5[th] April 2023.

Charitable Status and Objects

The Sorkhod Afghanistan Trust is a Charitable incorporated Organisation and was registered by the Charity Commission under number 1195654 on 27[th] August 2021. It has a Trustee Board accountable for the conduct of the organisation.

Its objects are to provide education, alleviate poverty, advance healthcare and make grants to Afghanistani individuals throughout the UK and in Afghanistan.

When reviewing the charity’s aims and objectives and in planning future activities, the Trustees pay due regard to the public benefit of guidance issued by the Charity Commission.

The Sorkhod Afghanistan Trust (SAT) supports the work of Afghan Chenar, a health and social care organisation, based in Jalalabad, Afghanistan which was set up in 2018. The Government Ministry of Health currently offer support to the organisation.

Money is used to pay rent, tax, food, salaries, utilities, medicines and medical equipment Afghan. Chenar is one of the few health care facilities available in the area. It sees on average 300 patients a month providing a range of services including treating ailments, dressing wounds and midwifery. The clinic also provides a feeding programme for 200 children, which delivers 800 meals a week, and offers a basic education for 70 boys and girls.

Financial Statements

SAT has a small number of faithful supporters in the UK. We channel approximately £1200 per month. This small amount finances an extraordinary amount of medical, humanitarian and educational help to a community which is cut off from the rest of the world.

Donations were obtained from a number of doners who support the work of the Trust.

Approved by the Board of Trustees on 3[rd] July 2023 and signed on their behalf.
