Objectives and Activities
For the public benefit, to advance public education in, and appreciation of music and the arts in all aspects, across Somerset, by the presentation of public concerts of artistic merit, masterclasses, workshops, exhibitions, and talks, by established arts professionals.
The Somerset International Festival of the Arts is an annual celebration of classical music and the arts which brings together world-class chamber musicians and performers to North Somerset.
Based in the intimate and beautiful setting of St Andrew's Church in Backwell, North Somerset, our festival exists to celebrate exceptional music making from some of the world’s finest performers, and to support and nurture music education through partnership programmes with schools and the local community.
Financial Review
Due to circumstances out of the charity’s control, specifically limitations on public performance following on from the COVID-19 pandemic, there was no activity for the charity and no income or expenditure during the period 25/08/21 to 25/03/22. There are no funds held in the charity bank account and zero reserves.
The inaugural festival performances our now scheduled to take place in October 2023, following a period of set-backs and delay due to the ongoing impact of COVID19 on the arts industry. Planning and fundraising is underway in preparation for this.
Structure and Governance
The SOMERSET INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL OF THE ARTS is a CIO with a foundation model governing document.
There are 3 trustees and the day-to-day management is dealt with by the artistic directors.
