Trustee Annual report for Alfouz Foundation UK

We have held monthly meetings with all UK based trustees and quarterly meetings with international trustees.

Charity has worked over the last 12 months in establishing it reputation and building on it core purpose supporting young people through their education. We have worked with a number of schools as well as those needy of support through ground initiatives within Pakistan.

Charity has main raised fund by direct fund raising. Majority of this has been done by Mohammed Saleem Akhtar Malik whom has a track record of holding public events and fundraising spanning over almost 25 years. He worked within his own circle of associates and friends who have been the majority of donators.

The charity has had some major difficulties in opening a bank account for the charity and has successfully open an account with Lloyds Bank after numerous months of back and forth with the bank to ensure the purpose of the charity was aligned to the charity expectations of the bank. The charity is thankful to Mohsin Saleem Malik for his tireless efforts to ensure that this account was opened and worked closing with the account opening manager to ensure all relevant documentation was provided and validated so that he bank account could be opened. The bank account opened in December 2021.

Before this period the charity was operational but funds donated we sent directly to Mr Mohammed Saleem Akhtar Malik’s account and once the bank was opened an initial amount of £1180.00 was transferred directly on 02/12/21. A further amount of £1572.00 was transferred on 06/01/22. The total spend for the year has been £796.00 leaving a balance of £2106.00 in the account.

Mohammed Saleem Akhtar Malik has made two separate trips to Pakistan within this time frame on his own expenses to see works within the schools directly being supported by Al Fouz Foundation UK.

The foundation have been made aware of another organisation with a similar name and trustees are considering whether to continue with the current name or to change this to something different to ensure there is no clash or misunderstandings with donators. The trustees will address this issue over the coming 12 months.

A major success for this year has been the clothing event we held in March 2022. It was an excellent idea to ask local UK based families to donate their old clothing so this could be sent to Pakistan to be recycled and sold to raise funds locally. In actual fact this has indirectly been a great support for family struggling to pay for education for their children and some was sold and some was given to those families most in need to help them with the cost of living. The beneficiaries were the family members to school children that the charity was working with. We may intend to do such an event again further in the future as we were surprised as the quantity of clothing donated and the support it gave to those most in need.

In the coming 12 months we intend to ensure that the charity widens is scope to support more young people through their education, as well as look for new avenues to support families with young children to ensure that they can have the

funds and support to provide every child with the simple right of gaining an education. The trust will look at the feasibility of the need to invest in a website to support with advertising and use of other marketing material.
