- Presidents report for the year 2021 2022

This year has been such an up and down year, I will start at the beginning.

Like the previous year we started with covid about so we had to reduce numbers to our september quiz but thankfully by the time Bonfire, Santa sleigh and the Boxing day duck race came covid was on its way out.

Bonfire was a fantasic event and we raised more money than normal because so many people came to see it. We had to delay the start due to the number of people that came.

Santa Sleigh was next and it was great to see so many people come out to support us, everyone loved to see Santa again.

Out of the Santa sleigh we had another record year of profits which went to our usual charties

Boxing day duck race must have been one of the quickest races we have had as a lot of people didn’t have time to come the walk to the church before it was finished.

Community events were held too with our popular Tea and chat returning and just recently the Jubliee picnic which finished with fireworks.

We have been very lucky to gain three new members this year Iain, Janet and Emma but we have sadly lost one of our younger members Josh. This has had a massive impact to our club and our hearts go out to Lion Simon, Rach Lion John. Becky and familys. Many lions will remember Josh as a very young lion always wanting to help the club. Josh will be sadly missed.

I would like to thank each and every lion and partners plus of course the children to whom our great club wouldn’t exist.

Thank you to all of our friends of the Vale of Belvoir Lions Club again without we wouldn’t be able to half the things we do.

As President I have to say I have been very lucky to have such great members and I have been proud to be your president. Thank you.

- Club Secretary Report July 2021 June 2022

As a club we started much more hopeful this year that we maybe able to resume our usual efforts as a club to provide and serve our community. With covid restrictions easing but some still in place we were ever hopeful that we would be able to pick up as we were before covid even if some aspects needed to be altered. As Club President Teresa started her second year in office and always mindful that this would prove to be the year the club could make a mark. Throughout the year, especially as the autumn restrictions eased more and more and our usual programme of events start to happen if not sightly altered, the club started to fined its feet again.

As usual throughout the year I have provided minutes from the meetings, forwarded emails to club members, completed the LCI page of our events, fundraising and hours served, sent club reports to zone chair and supported our Club President when needed.

It has very much felt this year that the club and I could truly serve people again and provide support to those that needed it.

Meetings have again been able to be carried out at the Durham Ox along with some additional meetings at The Bull!!

Having been able to meet back up I feel the club has grown stronger and members have truly seen the importance of their work.

Throughout the year we have rarely had to cancel a meeting due to lack of attendance. Commitment throughout the club has been very high.

Recently we have very sadly lost Lion Josh Ashworth through extremely sad circumstances with has impacted all members and relatives. It has been an extremely difficult time for the club but we stood tall for him and feel that the Platinum Jubilee Celebrations’s did him proud. He will ever be with us going forward.

We have unfortunately lost Lion Norman Robinson this month but he leaves in good standing and we are forever grateful for all his hard work regarding the accounts and moving the club forward with our charity accounts, his knowledge and investigation for the club has been outstanding.

We have however this month gained three new members, Iain Murray, Emma Owen and Janet Renshaw. We welcome them to the club and look forward to what they bring to the future of the club.

AGM Treasurers report June 2022

As we came out of pandemic restrictions we have seem our activity gradually increase and fundraising events restart.

We have also changed our status to CIO and have opened new bank accounts to reflect the changes. The old accounts will be closed after all subs for July 2022 have been paid.

Please note the new account details for future subs payments as these are now due

The Club has also invested in 2 Sum UP machines to meet Covid restrictions and reduce cash handling, these machines now are used at most events as post Covid many people no longer carry cash, and have proved a good investment. This equipment has meant we have been able to respond to the challenges presented by Covid regulations and we can now meet the expectations of our audiences at events now that cash is no longer the first choice for many as the primary monetary exchange preference. The cost is 1.6% of the transaction.

These machines are portable and were used on the sleigh runs as well as at events in the Village Hall

We claimed a Gift Aid payment from HMRC following cash gift aid deposits from individuals during the year.

2022 FUND RAISING REPORT – Presented by Lion Nigel Davies

After the interruption of fundraising activities cause by Covid, we have had a very successful year. As a club, we rely on 5 main events for the majority of our fundraising efforts, these are:

All 5 of these events have been very successful this past Lionistic year.

The Brains of Belvoir quiz back in September was a very successful event, making a profit of £950.24.

Our bonfire display made the biggest profit ever, of £6,687.34 and once again was an excellent evening.

The sleigh collection for Christmas 2021, again, was our most successful ever, making a record profit of £10,437.53.

The Duck Race was also a record breaking event, making a profit of £2,469.87.

Our final fundraising event, the Music quiz, made a very healthy profit of £805.72.

All in all, this has represented the biggest fundraising total we have ever made, which is an excellent result, considering we haven’t had Gala, Open Gardens or Fun Run events to organise.

The total raised this year is £21,350.70.

A great effort and thank you to all Lions and Friends of Lions that have made this total possible.

Nigel Davies

Community Report

Tea & chat it hasn’t been restarted due to Covid numbers raising and the lose of Lion Josh.

Fireworks an unexpected number of members of the public attended. Fantastic atmosphere and community spirit.

Going forward we need more helpers for crowd / queue control and refreshments stand.

Duck race was a great success lots of money raised for our local charities and public enjoyed the face to face meeting up with other overseer’s. Again a great atmosphere and support from the local shops and residents.

Santa sleigh astonishing title of approximately £10000 collected from residents in town and villages in the Vale of Belvoir. Monies raised went to LIVES, Rainbows and Air ambulance.

Young girl on sleigh route having a bad family crisis. It touched the hearts of us all, especially Lion Nigel. She was gifted a treat to show our support to this brave young lady.

Food bank collections and financial support. Going forward we have idea of how we can further support the Food bank.

Rainbows financial support

LIVES financial support

Notts & Lincs Air ambulance financial support.
