Annual Trustees’ Report – Year Ending June 2024
Introduction
The Trustees of Bharat Cricket Community are pleased to present the Annual Report for the year ending 30 June 2025.
The organisation continues to advance its mission of promoting community engagement, inclusivity, and wellbeing through cricket and associated social activities. Over the past year, Bharat Cricket Community has further strengthened its presence across multiple locations in the United Kingdom, delivering structured cricket programmes and community initiatives that bring people together.
Structure, Governance, and Management
Bharat Cricket Community operates as a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) registered with the Charity Commission for England and Wales.
The charity is governed by a Board of Trustees, supported by a network of volunteers who manage day-to-day activities, including tournaments, leagues, sponsorship, and community engagement initiatives.
The trustees meet periodically to review strategy, oversee operations, and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
Objectives and Activities Mission
The Bharat Cricket Community is committed to leading domestic club cricket in the United Kingdom. We cultivate a thriving membership across all levels, focusing on holistic player development with particular emphasis on supporting students' mental health and wellness.
Vision: To encourage community engagement in healthy recreation by providing cricket facilities, promoting physical activity, and fostering camaraderie.
Objectives: The primary objectives of the charity are to:

Promote participation in cricket across diverse communities

Encourage physical health, teamwork, and social cohesion

Provide inclusive opportunities for men, women, and families

Support wellbeing through sport and community engagement
Activities: To achieve these objectives, the charity:

Organises cricket tournaments and leagues

Facilitates indoor and outdoor cricket programmes

Conducts community and family engagement events
-
Promotes inclusivity through targeted initiatives such as women’s cricket
Key Activities in 2024–25:
Cricket Tournaments (Men’s): During the year, the organisation successfully conducted multiple cricket tournaments across key locations:

Sutton: 4 tournaments
-
Southend: 3 tournaments
-
Barking: 3 tournaments
These tournaments saw strong participation and contributed to building a competitive yet inclusive cricketing environment.
Women’s Cricket Development: As part of its commitment to inclusivity:
- 1 women’s cricket tournament was conducted across Sutton, Barking, and Southend
This initiative represents an important step towards increasing female participation in community cricket and will be expanded in future periods.
League Participation: The organisation:
- Participated in 2 leather ball cricket leagues
This provided players with structured competitive exposure and supported skill development.
Indoor Cricket Initiatives: To ensure year-round engagement:
- 2 indoor cricket tournaments were organised
These initiatives enabled continuity of participation during adverse weather conditions.
Community and Family Engagement: Family and community events were organised in:

Barking
-
Southend
These events strengthened social bonds and extended participation beyond players to families and the wider community.
Participation and Impact
We continue to have over 1000 members in all regions. Across all activities during the year, the organisation engaged approximately 600 participants .
The impact of these activities includes:

Increased grassroots participation in cricket

Improved inclusivity, particularly through women’s initiatives

Strengthened community cohesion

Enhanced opportunities for both recreational and competitive cricket
Financial Review
The charity continues to operate on a cash accounting basis , which is appropriate given its size and level of activity.

Plans for Future Periods
The Trustees aim to:

Strengthen partnerships with local communities and organisations

Enhance infrastructure and facilities for year-round participation

Develop structured programmes to further improve participation and impact
