## **Annual Trustees’ Report – Year Ending June 2023** 

## **Introduction** 

The trustees of the Bharat Cricket Community are pleased to present this annual report highlighting our activities, progress, and achievements during the year. Our mission continues to be the promotion of cricket and community well-being among the South Asian and broader local population, fostering inclusivity, health, and social cohesion through sport. 

## **Key Achievements and Activities** 

## **1. Regular Cricket Engagements** 

## We successfully organised **weekend cricket matches throughout the year** , providing 

consistent opportunities for our members to stay active, connected, and engaged. These sessions were inclusive and open to all levels, maintaining a strong spirit of community participation. 

## **2. Tournaments and Events** 

This year, we hosted **five major tournaments** , showcasing our community’s diversity and commitment to broadening participation: 

- **Two outdoor tournaments** during the summer season 

- **One indoor tournament** , enabling play during winter months 

- **A dedicated women’s cricket tournament** , encouraging female participation in sport 

- **A children’s cricket event** , focusing on youth engagement and early development 

## **3. Promoting Mental Health and Wellbeing** 

Through sport, we continued our commitment to **mental health awareness** and general **wellbeing promotion** . Physical activity, regular social interaction, and a supportive network have all contributed to better mental health outcomes for our members. 

## **4. Expansion into Other Sports** 

This year, we encouraged broader **sports engagement beyond cricket** , including **football** and **tennis** , allowing our members to diversify their physical activity and form new interest groups within the community. 

## **5. Sutton Section Launch** 

We are proud to report the **successful launch of a new section in Sutton** , further expanding our reach and impact. This marks a strategic step in making our activities more accessible across South London. 

**Participation and Growth** 



- We recorded **over 500 unique players** participating in our activities throughout the year—a testament to our growing presence and the inclusive nature of our programmes. 

- Our demographic mix continues to broaden, and we remain committed to providing a welcoming environment for all participants regardless of age, gender, or background. 

## **Looking Ahead** 

The trustees are committed to building on this year’s success by: 

- Expanding youth and women’s cricket programs 

- Developing more mental health workshops and sport-linked wellbeing initiatives 

- Strengthening the Sutton section and exploring new regional hubs 

- Continuing collaborations with local authorities and partners to promote inclusivity in sport
