Bharat Cricket Community (BCC) Annual Report 2022

Executive Summary

The Bharat Cricket Community (BCC) is pleased to present our Annual Report for 2022. Despite the challenges of limited funding and inadequate facilities, our cricket-centric approach has provided a robust platform for promoting healthy living and volunteerism within the South Asian community.

Operations and Activities

Our year commenced with the Indoor Cricket Tournament, a testament to our commitment to ensuring continuous physical activity among our members, regardless of weather or external conditions. Spring ushered in our outdoor weekend cricket activities.

In an endeavour to foster community cohesion and physical fitness, we facilitated four Bharat Premier League (BPL) tournaments and seven mini-tournaments. These inclusive events engaged men, women, and children, with more than 300 BCC members (out of 700) actively participating.

Even with limited facilities and resources, our dedicated volunteers ensured the smooth execution of six matches every weekend across two grounds, managing all aspects from live YouTube auctions and matches to real-time commentary, and more.

Community Engagement and Volunteering

In line with BCC's vision of strengthening community bonds, our activities spanned beyond cricket. Our calendar included numerous community events such as the BCC 2022 Inauguration, Weekly and Monthly Birthday Celebrations, ICC Tournament Celebration, BCC Dance Events, BPL Tournament Award Ceremony with Family Members, Family Day, Dandiya Events, and BCC Year-End Awards.

These events not only fostered social cohesion but also raised cultural awareness, enabling the wider community to gain a deeper understanding and appreciation of South Asian culture. In addition to promoting community involvement within BCC, our members displayed commendable commitment to external volunteering opportunities such as the London Marathon and various Rotary Projects, including the KidsOut Day for special children and the Leprosy Control Program in India.

Challenges and Looking Ahead

Despite our achievements, we faced significant challenges in the form of limited funding and inadequate facilities. These constraints, however, have not deterred us but instead have inspired us to work harder and be more resourceful.

With the valuable lessons from 2022, we look forward to a more successful 2023. Our commitment to promoting healthy living and fostering a culture of volunteerism within the South Asian community remains unflinching. We are excited about the opportunities that lie ahead and are resolved to deepen our impact within and beyond our community.

We extend our sincere gratitude to all our members, volunteers, and partners for their unwavering support and contribution towards making 2022 a year of growth and unity for the Bharat Cricket Community.
