Achievements and Performance
| SORP reference | ||
|---|---|---|
| Summary of the main achievements of the charity, identifying the difference the charity’s work has made to the circumstances of its beneficiaries and any wider benefits to society as a whole. |
Para 1.20 | EABC has continued its work across the community which has enabled it to expand its provision for our junior members; this has seen a rise in the membership from the previous season. One of the main benefits has been the relationships built with the parents and families, allowing coaches to talk about the importance of diet and sleep. It also introduced a ‘Best Junior’ trophy and certificate which is awarded weekly to the junior, judged by the coaches, who has excelled during the session. This continued this year and has been well received by parents/carers. The link with Exeter University has seen the arrival of a number of members from different ethnic minorities. The coaches continue to travel to Exeter on Saturday to coach the group. This group attends the home gym on Monday/Tuesday and now Thursday of every week. The application for a new boxing gym as part of a new Sports’ Hub for the town is still pending a decision by EDDC. The trustees are anticipating a decision within the next couple of months. They had to address some concerns raised by EDDC; this has slowed the process considerably and has come with additional costs. The application has been turned down by the Town Council. The trustees have amended the plans from a two-storey to a single storey gym and this will now go forward to EDDC planning authority. |

Financial Review
| Financial Review | ||
|---|---|---|
| Review of the charity’s financial position at the end of the period |
Para 1.21 | The financial position is similar to the previous year in so far as the income covers our expenditure and sufficient funds are available to carry over to the next year. The trustees are aware of the need to use some of the reserves to cover the cost of the various reports required as a result of the application for a new facility. EDDC has requested further reports as a result of the application and these will need to paid for from the club’s reserves. |
| Statement explaining the policy for holding reserves stating why they are held |
Para 1.22 | The historical reserves were held in anticipation of the application for a new gym or the extension of the current one. It has been an ambition of the former club, and now the trustees, to move to a bigger facility. Working in partnership with Exmouth Town FC Ltd. presented the opportunity to establish a Sports’ Hub for the town. This situation is ongoing. |
| Amount of reserves held | Para 1.22 | £25,600 |

| Trustee selection methods including details of any constitutional provisions e.g. election to post or name of any person or body entitled to appoint one or more trustees |
Para 1.25 | At present there are sufficient trustees to manage the club in its current location. The increasing delay in the planning process for the new gym is frustrating, but the trustees are confident that by the Autumn of 2025 full planning permission will have been secured. The trustees will establish a sub- committee whose sole task will be to appoint new trustees. The full committee will take the final decision following due diligence. This will be key to the success of the new gym at Warren View. One trustee, Mr. P. Weeks’s position was deemed vacated following non-attendance at trustees’ meeting over a six-month period. His last involvement with the club was as compere at one of our annual tournaments in October 2022. |
