Achievements and Performance

SORP reference
Summary of the main
achievements of the charity,
identifying the difference the
charity’s work has made to
the circumstances of its
beneficiaries and any wider
benefits to society as a
whole.
Para 1.20 EABC has continued its work across the
community which has enabled it to expand
its provision for our junior members which
has seen a jump in the membership from
last season.
One of the main benefits of this has been
the relationships built with the parents and
families, allowing coaches to talk about the
importance of diet and sleep.
It also introduced a ‘Best Junior’ trophy and
certificate which is awarded weekly to the
junior, judged by the coaches, who has
excelled during the session.
The link with Exeter University has seen
the arrival of a number of members from
different ethnic minorities. The coaches
continue to travel to Exeter on Saturday to
coach the group. This group attends the
home gym on Monday/Tuesday of every
week.
Continued links with Exmouth College with
reference to a particular student.
The application for a new boxing gym as
part of a new Sports’ Hub for the town is
still pending a decision by EDDC. The
trustees are anticipating a decision within
the next couple of months. They had to
address some concerns raised by EDDC;
this has slowed the process considerably
and has come with additional costs.

Financial Review

Financial Review
Review of the charity’s
financial position at the end
of the period
Para 1.21 The financial position is similar to the
previous year in so far as the income
covers our expenditure and sufficient funds
are available to carry over to the next year.
The trustees are aware of the need to use
some of the reserves to cover the cost of
the various reports required as a result of
the application for a new facility. EDDC has
requested further reports as a result of the
application and these will need to paid for
from the club’s reserves.
Statement explaining the
policy for holding reserves
stating why they are held
Para 1.22 The historical reserves were held in
anticipation of the application for a new
gym or the extension of the current one. It
has been an ambition of the club, and now
the trustees, to move to a bigger facility and
working in partnership with Exmouth Town
FC Ltd. presented this opportunity to
establish a Sports’Hub for the town.
Amount of reserves held Para 1.22 £25,000
Reasons for holding zero
reserves
Para 1.22 NA
Details of fund materially in
deficit
Para 1.24 NA

Structure, Governance and Management

Description of charity’s
trusts:
Type of governing document
(trust deed, royal charter)

Para 1.25
Trust deed
How is the charity
constituted?
(e.g unincorporated
association, CIO)
Para 1.25 CIO
Trustee selection methods
including details of any
constitutional provisions e.g.
election to post or name of
any person or body entitled
to appoint one or more
trustees
Para 1.25 At present there are sufficient trustees to
manage the club in its current location. The
long delay in the planning process for the
new facility has put considerable strain on
the trustees. It is hope that the application
will be approved by August 2024. If that
proves to be the case it is very likely that
new trustees will need to be appointed to
strengthen the governances of the new
gym and ensure it is successful from the
outset.
Once the application has been approved
the trustees will establish a sub-committee
whose sole task will be to appoint new
trustees. The full committee will take the
final decision following due diligence.
