1[st] August 2024 – 31[st] July 2025 South West Powerchair Football League Trustee Report.

Activities and Achievements during the year.

Over the year we were able to diversify our work to keep maximizing our impact with the powerchair football community. We Prioritized inclusivity and social isolation as key areas to focus on. As with each season we look to grow the opportunity to play this wonderful sport.

This Year we saw the introduction of some new teams to participate within the league and try the sport at a competitive level. We boasted a total of 7 teams throughout the league set-ups with a total of 40 plus players registered on the FA System.

Along with the new teams we had 5 match days for the season and had a 6[th] session where we did our annual Helens Cup, where we were able to mix all the teams up and celebrate the sport how it should be.

The end of our season saw 2 teams battling it out for top spot which went to the last game of the day and saw Gloucester Gladiator Navy’s take the title.

As a League for the first time since COVID, can nominate a team to head into the National League Play Offs. This would see the GBG Saracens head up to Nottingham for a knockout tournament against Nottingham PFC and Greenbank PFC where they were victorious.

At the close of the season we still had funds available to roll into the next season which meant we still would need to fund raise but we were still able to offer the league again and the opportunity for players to participate in the 25/26 season.

We also ended the season with all the roles on the committee full and a team that will push the success of the league forward for years to come.

Future Plans

Secure more funds to keep pushing the league into the direction outlined. Ideally wanting funds to cover Venue Hire along with a purchase of a hoist so all teams can use it on match days.

Introduce a league sponsor to push both the league and their brand, ideally a Motability sponsor as it can help reach a wider audience.

Develop the Development league and introduce a second set of dates for a larger league.

Help and Support past clubs Exeter PFC and Plymouth PFC as they currently are not ready to enter the league.
