REPORT OF THE TRUSTEES
YEAR ENDED 31 DECEMBER 2023
Secrètary's Report
2D23 has been a momentOU5 year in the history of Beccles Baptist Church as what stated in 2018 as an l&month project
finally came to fruition on the l October 2023. and Betde5 Baptist Churth became a Charitable Incorporated OrganisatiDn,
and registered with the Charity Commi55ion. It has been a lon& and muth more expensive journey that anticipated but it
has placed the church on a muth better fi)oting moving forwards. ￿ has also enabled us to take charge of the properties
that were held in trust which will make lrfe simpler in the years to come.
That, as Tom has often said, has been the borin& but extremety importsnt bit of thi5 year. It ha5 not changed the work of
the church and we have been blessed wtth a Steady flow of new people coming to our seNices which we hope will see
seeds p13rited that will grow into frdith. The gallery refurbtshment was completed in eady sprin& and it is now a much more
comfortable pla￿ to be in during a selv1￿. The year saw the home c311 of Derek Cooper. Derek had been a mèmber for
many years playing the organ. the one that is no longer th us, for over fifty year4 in addttion to being a long serving
deacon.
The year also sawthe departure of Peter3nd Alice Skerr3tL Peterioined us four years eartier as an assistant pastor and God
has taken him to a thurch of hts own in Bimiingham. Many of us were able to ttsvèl thèrè for his indurtion. The sadness of
their moving has been tempered by thè blessing of the 3rrNal of Ben and Ikinielle Deeley. as Ben arrived in AuEUSt to begin
his four-year period as the a55iStant pastor. ￿ has also saw Paul Spill step down as an elder, again after many years of
faithful service, firstly as a deacon and then on to the eldership. The leader5htP team are very grateful for all that he has
and 15 continuingto do for us all.
The world we are living in continue5 to be one which is full of strife. Thè war in Ukraine tontinues and therè is now also war
In the Middle East. Natural disasters have ottu￿ed in many places around the worfd this year and are continuing on as the
year end approaches. Many of us may be worried over what the futttre hold& We however can be ￿rtain that we have a
