Alcester & District CFR AGM 2 May 2024, Chairmans report
In 2023 we attended 186 999 call outs.
In summer 2023, we inherited a defibrillator, a Cardiac Science G5 and cabinet from the landlord of an empty factory unit on the Arden Forest industrial Estate. It had a flat battery and out of date pads, but after being re-kitted, it was reinstalled outside the Costcutter store, on the Arden Forest Industrial Estate.
2023 wasn’t a great year for recruitment. Of the 4 recruits who passed interview in 2023, 2 deferred their training until this year, 1 moved away from the area, and the remaining person, Jess Print passed the FPOS training course in December and is now a probationary CFR but isn’t yet signed off to respond alone. Jess has been very ill recently and has been in hospital for several weeks.
CPR and defibrillator awareness sessions to members of our community continue. In 2023 we delivered this to 190 people in Alcester and the surrounding villages, arranged by parish councils, sports clubs, and businesses. We received donations from most of the organisations we delivered this to.
We were very fortunate to be selected by 2023/4 Mayor of Alcester, Vaughan Blake as one of his 2 charities. I will be told the amount raised at the Mayor Making ceremony next week and am hoping for a 4-figure sum. Sandra and I attended his 2 main fundraising events, and Italian night and an Irish night.
Alcester Town Council awarded a community grant to us of £646 for defibrillator batteries and pads. Other donations from various local organisations and individuals totalled £1100. The expenses we received from WMAS for travel to jobs exceeded the money we spent on petrol for the Scheme car by £61.
The cost of car, kit and public liability insurances totalled £1060. We had a cash surplus of £378 for the year. We spent £154 on PPE and £177 on other equipment.
At the November meeting it was agreed to deposit £10,000 into in interest bearing account with Lloyds. I have a letter that this became effective on December 5[th] , yet the bank statement shows the transfer did not happen until January. This should explain why on December 31[st] we had £12,009 in the current bank account, and today it is £274. More on this later.
