The twslees present thelr annual report and t7nanclal slalements for the year anded 31 March 2025.
The financial statements have b88n prepared in accordance wlth the accounting polkles set out In not& 1 to the
financial statements and comply with th8 charity's goveming document, the Charities Act 2011, FRS 102 'Th8
Flnancial Reportlng Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ir8land" and the Charities SORP "Accounting
and Reportlng by Charib8s-. Statement of Recommended Practice applicable to charhies proparing their accounts in
a(tordanc8 wlth the FinarKial Reportlrwj Stsndar(l applicable In the UK and Republlc of Ireland IFRS 102)..
Objectlves and activiti08
The objective5 of the charity are to preseNe and protect good health among people ￿th dementia. their families
and carors, in Downham Market and the Surrounding Area, in parbcular bul not exclusrvely, through the provision of
a safo environm6nl lo hold regular meetings to provide stimulating experiences through recreation. Aso to provid
80aal trips and to gwe practical and emotional support, help and advice.
The tru8tses have paid due regard lo guidance 588ued by the Charity Commission in decldlng what actwities the
charfty should undertake.
Achievements and perfomianco
Downham Demonlla has created a safe r%dng and positive environment for those diagnosed with the ￿nditIOn trf
Dementia and their caregivers. Inttially created in 2015 under the name Downham Dèmentia Support Association11
inilially ran once a month, extending lo with various organise(I social trips occurring. It also ur¥Jèrtook
community training events in the subject of Dementia the Association was run by a management committ8e.
The need for the communlty-based $8rvic8 grew and the decision was taken by th8 Committee to bècome a charlty
In 2021, and three trustees were chosen from the committee. The charity now runs five café sessions per month.
alongslde communty soclal activities. and community fundraising 8vents. al which th8 Charity is promoted. The
Cafés continue to off8r friendship and activities alongslde practical advice where requlred.
The charfty has grown steadily. The numbers attending have grown from six per month at the fomiation of the
A$S￿l8tiOn lo over one hundred per month currently, and Downham D8mentla will o)nlinu8 ils steady growth as
fundlng permits. These activities ￿11 be 18d by the needs and wishes of those that attend and several Op￿On8 for
fiJbJre growth have been identM8d. In short. the charity grew out of a need 8xpr8ssed by the cornmunity for such a
Se￿IC@ and is largely run by members of the community providing a service which th8 community engages with.
The charity performance will bg evalualed in a number of way8 i.e. through att8ndance and impact assessments
using known tools lo me88ur8 changa and through commisslonlng an evaluation of the work of th8 charity, and the
step8 It may naed to take to improv8 both performanc8 and delivery.
The setvice will also indude benefirAarie5 in the work il is planning lo move forward. This includes the inauguration
of an a(fvocacy seNice to fvrther sUPPOrt carern in securing the help to which they are entitled. A Sitting Service
which was also 8 suggestion from ben8fficlaries began in late 2024 and will develop furlher as voluntsers are
recruited.
The funding environment remains challenging, the reality of avallable fundlng golng to less than 4 % of the charftie8
in England & Wales highlights the fact that important work Carried out al the grass roots is chronically underfunded
and leaves organisations vulnerable, and competition for diminishing grant funding fle￿ and complex. Downham
Dementia was therefore dglighted to achiev& national lottery funding via the reaching communthes grant for three
years, which should help Secure its fulure providing match funding can be achieved. Thls grant began on 1.7.2024.

Incomlng resources during th8 year amounted to £56,093 {2024 - £19,303), of whlch £42,670 {2024 - £7,098) is
re5trlcted and £13,423 (2024 £12,205) Is unrestrlcted. Resources expanded on chari18blg 8Ctivi118s In the year
totalled £40,321 {2024 - £25.3141, of whlch £26,45212024 - t11.102) is reslricled and £13,86912024 - £14.2121 Is
unr8Strictad. As al 31 March 2025, the charty ￿ld £18,421 12024- £2,953) in restriciad funds and £7,313 (2024-
£7.0091 in unrestrict8d funds.

Your attention is drawn to the fact that the charty has prepared the financial statements in accordance with the
relevant version of the Stalemant of Recommended Practice applicable to charities preparing thair financial
statements in accordance with the Financial Reporting Stsndard applicable in the UK and Republic of Irelanij {FRS
102} in preference to the Accounting and Reporting by Charities.. Statement of Recommended Practice issued on 1
April 2005 which Is referred to in the extant regulations but has now b88n wthdrawn. l undorstand that this has
been done in order for the financial statements to provlde a true and fair view in accordance with UK Generally
Accepted Accountsng Practlce.

1.1 Accountlng convention
The financial statements hav8 been propared In accordance with the charivs goveming document. the
Charities Act 2011. FRS 102 'The Financial Reporknng Standard applicablg in the UK and Republic of Ireland,
and the Chariti85 SORP 'Accounting and Reporting by Charities.. Stal8m8nt of Recommended Practic6
applicable to charities preparing their accounts in accordance with the Financial Reporbng Standard
applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS 102)" The charityls a Public Benefit Entity a5 definad by
FRS 102.
The chartty has taken thontage of the provlslons In the SORP for Gharilies rtot to prepare a statsment of
cash ftows.
The financlal statements have departed from the Charities (Accounts and Reports) Regulations 2008 only to
the extent requlred lo provtd8 a true and fair wew. Thi5 departu￿ has involved following the Slalemenl of
Recommended Practice for chartties applying FRS 102 rather than the version of the Statsment of
Recommendod Practi￿ whiGh is referred to in the Regulations bul which has since been withdrawn.
The financial statements are prepared in sterling. which Is the functional currency of the charity. Monetary
amunts in these financial stataments are rounded lo the nearest £.
The finandal slatements have been Prepared under the hi8torfcal cost convention. The principal accounting
policie5 adopted are set out below.
1.2 Going concem
At the time of approving the financial statements, th8 trustees have a reasonable expectatlon that the charity
has adoquale resources to continue in operational existence for the foreseeable future. Thus the trustees
continue to adopt the going ¢on¢em basis of accountlng in preparing the financlal statements.
1.3 Charitable funds
Unrestricted funds are avallable for use al the discretion of the truste8s in lurtherance of their charitsble
objectnie5.
Restricted fvnds arg subject to SP8cffic conditions by donors or grantors as to how they may be used. The
purposes and usas of the restricted funds are set OLrt in the not&s to th8 financial statements.
Endowment funds are subject lo spocfflc con(Iltlons by donors that the capital mu8t be maintained by the
charity.
IA Income
Income Is recognised when thè Charity Is legally entitled to il aft8r any performance condition8 have been me(
the amounts can b8 measured reliabty. and it 18 probable that incomg will be rècèived.
Cash donations are recognlsed on recelpt. Other donations are recognlsod once the charity has been notffied
of the donation, unless perfomiance conditions require defe￿al of th8 amount. Income tax recoverable in
relation to donations received under Gift Aid or deeds of covenant is recognisad at the time of the donation.
Lega¢le8 arè r8cognls8d on receipt or otherwi86 If tha charfty has been notified of an Imp8ndlng dl8trfbLrtlon,
the amount is known, and receipt is 8xp6ct8d. If the amount is not known, the legacy is treated as a

Income from government and other grants. whether 'Gapital' or 'revenue' grants, is accounted for using the
performance model. It is recognised when the charity ha5 entillèmonl to the funds, any perfomiance
condltions attached lo the grants have been mel, it is probable that tho Income will be re￿iVed and the
amounl can be measured reliably and is not deferred
1.5 Expondlturn
Expenditure is recognised unce there is a legal or constructive obligation lo transfer economic ben8fi1 to a
third party, it Is probable that a Ir8nsf8r of economic benefits will be required in 8ettlement, and the amount of
the obligation can b& moasurad reliably.
Expenditur6 is classified by activity. The costs of each actiwty are mad8 up of the total of direct Wsts arwj
shared costs, including support costs involved in undertaking eath aclivty. Direct costs attributable to a single
activity are allocated directly to that actlvity. Shared costs which contribute to more than one activity arb
Support costs which are not attribLrtable to a single activtty aro apportioned befvRen those adiwlies on a basis
¢onsist8nl with the use of resources. Central staff costs are alloca18d on the basis of time spent. and
depreciation charges are allocated on the portion of the ass8Vs use.
1.6 Cash and cash èqulval•nts

investrnents wlth or￿inal ma￿ritieS of three months or le88, and bank ov8rdrafts. Bank overdrafts are shown
whhin borrowings in current liabilities.
1.7 Employee b•neftts
Tho cost of any unused holiday entiljement is recognisad in the period in which the employee'8 semces are
received.
Tarmination benefits are recognised imm8dlatsly as an expense when the charity Is demonstrably committed
to temiinate the employment of an omployee or to provide termination ben8ftts.
1.8 Retlrem•nt benafits
Payments to defined contribution r8tlremenl benefit schemgs are charged as an expense as they f811 dug.
