Activities

AMOT exists to represent, support and promote the Regimental and Corps museums of the British Army. Founded in 1954, the network includes over 140 Army museums and collections. Members can access funding, training and events. We provide specialist advice on governance, collections, audience and research, and represent Army museums to the wider heritage sector and external organisations.

Objects: 3.1. The Objects Of The CIO Are To Promote The Efficiency Of The Army By:3.1.1. Educating The Public And Members Of The Army By The Promotion And Fostering Of Regimental And Military Traditions In The History, And Deeds Thereof In The Following Ways:by Assisting In And Encouraging The Maintenance And Improvement Of Existing Regimental And Corps Museums And Other Army Museums;by Assisting In And Encouraging The Establishment And Maintenance Of New Regimental And Corps Museums And Other Army Museums;by Acquiring, Preserving And Assisting In And Ensuring The Care Of Equipment, Books, Prints, Drawings, Uniforms, Weapons And Any Other Items Or Artifacts Connected With The History Of Particular Regiments Or Corps Or Of The Army Generally.3.1.2. Educating The Public And Members Of The Army By:the Promotion And Fostering Of Regimental And Corps And Other Military Traditions;learning, Education And Research Into Matters Relating To British Military Forces And (Insofar As IT Will Further The Professional Knowledge And Attainments Of Members Of The British Army Serving Or On The Reserve) Into Matters Relating To Other Military Forces Of Any Sovereign Or Dependent State.
