## **Trustees’ Annual Report**

**Name of Charity** - Enhancing Young Adults’ Independence (EYAI)

**Charity number** - 1195406

**Postal address** - 3 Willow Road, Thame OX9 3BE

**Trustees** - Dan East, Keith Pound, Elise Butler

## **Structure**

Three trustees, which include treasurer and safeguarding team

Operations manager, with general oversight regarding the daily running of the charity.

Creative team, including web designer, graphic designer, marketing and printing.

Volunteers for events and fundraising.

Pippa’s Community Café team. This includes the Operations manager and volunteers some of whom are previous and current clients.

## **Activities and objectives**

The objectives of EYAI are to support young adults to gain the confidence and independence to become productive members of their communities. This is done through a 12-week programme, structured for each individual client, through mentoring and work experience. We

work closely with the employer to enable the client to succeed in the job and, where possible, continue employment there, at the end of the 12-week period.

EYAI set up a pop-up café in September 2023 at Stone village hall. It is known as Pippa’s Community Café, named after the late co-founder Rev. Pippa Soundy. The aim is to offer a place for clients who need additional confidence and independence building to be supported. This is achieved by providing them with customer service and basic catering experience, prior to them moving into wider community businesses.

EYAI clients increased over 2023. Most of these have only needed a few sessions, with CV development and interview skills. One had the opportunity to work with EYAI mentors through their final year of school for the full 12-week programme, going into full time training in September 2023.

The following activities continued throughout 2023:

- Working in Aylesbury Church community cafes where the mentors are available to work with new clients.

- Attending community fairs and networking with other local organisations to enable referrals and additional support where needed to clients.

- Promoting Pippa’s Community Café, working with new designers, local newspaper and local newsletters, Buckinghamshire council newsletters and updating social media.

- Fundraising events continued to take place in Thame and started in Stone using local volunteers and clients.

- The majority of team meetings continue to be online, with the team being geographically spread out.

- EYAI has built a good relationship with Tesco who continue to be our main funder for fundraising events and refreshments for the community café.

- Work has primarily been focused in the Aylesbury area.

## **Funding**

Funding meetings began to be scheduled in order to gain enough support to open the café. This included requirements for promotional material, insurance and food hygiene training. This was achieved with the help of Rotary clubs, small donations and fete stalls.

The aim for 2024 is to make the café self-efficient which will in turn will become the main source of income for EYAI.

Further information can be found on the year-end accounts.
