Welcome to the AGM of the West Windsor Hub (WWH) 4[th] July 2023 held in person at All Saints Church Dedworth
It is great to look back on the work we have done in last year.
We continue to work as a support Hub even though the country is well on its way to recovery from Covid.
The financial crisis has seen an even greater need for the most vulnerable in our community.
We have seen an increase in the following services
Referrals to FoodShare
Referrals to CAP debt service
Free food bags
Support in filling in benefit forms
New services
Partnering with the RBWM to get the Household Support Fund to as many qualifying people as possible.
Warm Hub, this was started on the 10[th] January 2023 and ran until the end of March.
This was popular and enabled our guests to join us for a hearty hot meal and stay warm in the hub. We offered companionship, friendship and a safe place to be. During this time, we found a lot of people on the homeless pathway join us as well as some lonely single people.
We continue to offer a free light lunch and have found a regular group of guests coming along on Tuesdays and Fridays many but not all these people are struggling with money, however they are all living with mental health issues and isolation.
A spin off service has been started by one of our clients, to provide good quality gifted clothing to people unable to afford to buy from charity shops. This is call new2you and can be access via a pop up at the Pump Room of the WWH.
We continue to work with the other charities in Windsor who support vulnerable people.
Areas of risk
We no longer get support from M&S as they have changed their collection time to after 7:00pm which means we would have to collect food on the evening after we have been open.
I did ask Driven Forward to swap the even
ing before our opening so we could give food to those in need, but this was declined.
We have seen a decline in donations but are able to use money in the bank account to pay for food.
FoodShare have asked us to reduce the number of referrals we do. We have a meeting with the manager in three weeks to see how they want to move forward.
Clients becoming dependent on our support and not being able to become self-sustaining.
The future
We have some ideas for the future Allison will share some thoughts, but I will ask for your thoughts on the concept of delivering a household budgeting course. This would be delivered and funded by grants.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of the volunteers for their dedications and support to the hub and the community we serve.
