The charitable purposes are set out in its constitution. Such purposes as are exclusively charitable for the public benefit as the trustees shall see fit. ## **2.3 Trustee Selection Methods** There must be at least three charity trustees. The maximum number of trustees is 12. In accordance with the Constitution, Trustees are appointed or re-appointed for a term of three years by a resolution passed at a properly convened meeting of the charity trustees. In appointing Trustees due consideration is given to ensuring that the Trustees have, between them, the skills and experience necessary to manage the charity efectively and in accordance with charity law. ## **3 Activities, Achievements & Performance** ## **3.1 Statutory Declaration** The Trustees confirm that they have paid due regard to the guidance issued by the Charity Commission on public benefit in deciding what activities the charity should undertake. ## **3.2 Overview** _**(Executive Summary)**_ As a small charity in its first year of operation under the stresses of coronavirus Our Angel Bears has steadily grown despite the charity sector struggling for almost two years. Our Angel Bears have shown that when an organisation sticks to its core values and its original purpose it can waiver any storm and continue to help people whom we intended to help whilst it was set up. ## **3.3 Activities, Achievements & Performance** _**(In More Detail)**_ - The Trustees continued with their activities during the year, as well as continuing to work on the internal policies, controls, and overall governance of the charity. - Our Angel Bears have set up two new support groups in 2021/2022 – one in Poole, Dorset and one in Tipton, West Midlands. These groups run biweekly, and both have been well attended. - Our Angel Bears hosted its first virtual support group on the evening of 17[th] April and plan to carry these out monthly for those who feel unable to meet face to face to discuss their loss. - Our Angel Bears was chosen as one of the three recipients of a local Asda branch for their green token giving programme. Three community groups face a round of voting and will then be given a donation between £500£200. Due to Covid-19 Green Token Giving is via online vote. At the writing of this report voting is still open until May 31[st] , 2022, so currently we are unaware of how much money will be received. - Our Angel Bears now supply 20 NHS trust early pregnancy units with their keepsake bags sending approximately 200 a month. In our first 10 months of being a registered charity we provided 2,000 grieving families with keepsakes. Charity Name: Trustees’ Annual Report & Financial Statements Page 5 of 10 - Our Angel Bears have developed relationships with private sector companies who provide services to pregnant people outside of a hospital setting. We now supply 2 diferent private scan clinic franchises with our keepsake bags. - Featured on a segment called ‘Make a diference with Kath’ BBC Radio West Midlands in May 2022 ## **3.4 How the Public Have Benefitted.** More peer support groups have been provided in areas other than our founding area (Dorset). These groups are ran by parents who have experienced pregnancy loss themselves which sadly gives them a glimpse into the world of pain the attendants of the support groups may be feeling. Through feedback it has been noted they feel grateful they have a safe space in which they can share their loss with people who ‘get it’. ## **3.5 Trustee Development** Trustees and volunteers alike have been undertaking relevant training and online workshops. ## **3.6 Looking Ahead** Now that the Covid-19 pandemic is becoming more controlled, Our Angel Bears are hoping to engage in more within the community. The month of June Our Angel Bears is entering its 5[th] year of being an organisation, so we are hoping to host online events as well as attend fun days over this period. ## **4 Financial Review** ## **4.1 Details of Any Funds Materially in Deficit** The Charity has no funds which are materially in deficit. ## **4.2 Policy on Reserves** The Charity’s policy on reserves is to generate and maintain a balance which is sufficient: - a) to preserve the financial viability of the Charity in the event that unforeseen and/or unavoidable circumstance precipitate a short-term fall in its income. - b) to enable the Charity, in the interests of meeting its objectives, to undertake from time to time the setting up of new and innovative projects on a pilot basis to demonstrate the viability and potential benefits of such activities as a precursor to securing the external funding necessary to maintain such projects on an on-going basis. For these purposes the Charity will endeavour to generate and maintain reserves which are at least 5% of its annual expenditure. ## **4.3 Principal Sources of Funding and Outgoings** In October 2019 Our Angel Bears secured a space in the co op community fund which ran from October 19 – March 20 (covid-19 abruptly threw everything into disarray) This period of funding enabled us to raise an amazing £4,039.84 which has enabled us to operate and provide our services in our first year as a registered CIO. Our Angel Bears sell the very popular ‘Parent of an angel’ wristbands which provides a semi steady monthly income of around £10 b: We do not expect any significant expenditure during 2022 other than printing costs, postage to send our keepsakes, promotional items and projects. ## **4.4 Remuneration of Trustees** All Trustees act in a voluntary capacity and receive no remuneration or other material benefits from their services to the Charity and this has been and continues to be our objective. Out-of-pocket expenses necessarily and reasonably incurred by Trustees in promoting the purposes of the Charity are reimbursed at cost. This can include petrol or transport reimbursement. ## **4.5 Financial Status** The charity’s current resources from unrestricted and unrestricted donations are more than sufficient to meet its outgoings for at least next year. Annual Report & Financial Statements Page 9 of 10 ## **5.2 Notes to the Accounts** - a) Accounting Policies The financial statements have been prepared in accordance with the Charities Act 2011 Section 133, using the Receipts and Payments basis available to small charities and the charity’s own FreeAgent Accounts Spreadsheet. - b) Salaries & Professional Fees - No trustee receives any payments for the services they provide to the charity. In the current financial year the charity employed no staf or external contractors; - c) Fixed Assets - The charity has not purchased or disposed of any fixed assets in the current financial year; - d) Rounding Discrepancies - All amounts are recorded to the penny, but in these accounts are shown as digitally rounded to the nearest pound. This can occasionally result in a total apparently not being the sum of its constituent amounts. All individual amounts, and their totals, are nevertheless correct.
