Achievements and Performance

Summary of the main achievements of the charity, identifying the difference the charity’s work has made to the circumstances of its beneficiaries and any wider benefits to society as a whole.	Para 1.20	The main achievement of the charity is to provide early pre-school Welsh education to 2.5 – 4 year olds, through the service of Cylch Meithrin. Cylch Meithrin Cerrigydrudion provides playgroup sessions 4 times a week during term time. The Cylch is a provider of early education, and it provides this exclusively through the medium of Welsh. The Cylch Meithrin is accessible for all children between 2.5 and 4 years in the Cerrigydrudion and outlying areas and these children, and their families, therefore are the beneficiaries of this charity. The Cylch benefitted from grant funding to purchase a kitchen for the children. Cylch has also received grant funding towards a trip to Bala through a local windmill fund and a grant towards a wellbeing course for one member of staff. The Cylch also received a small grant due to snow.

Performance of fundraising activities against objectives set	Para 1.41	Just over £1500 was raised through fundraising events. The top three fundraising events were are as follows: - The annual Christmas Fair was very successful with around 20 stallholders and a profit of £645.90 for the Cylch - Sponsored Bike Ride for the young children made a profit of £349.10. - The stand at the annual Cerrig Show made a profit of £220.00

Financial Review
Review of the charity’s financial position at the end of the period	Para 1.21	The financial position at the end of the year is acceptable, however with less children attending Cylch, reserves are required to sustain the Cylch financially in the future.

A description of the principal risks facing the charity	Para 1.46	The key risks are financial, as the charity relies almost entirely on contract income that is tied to strict child-to-staff ratios and a fixed payment rate that does not always cover the full cost of delivery. With only two members of staff, any period of illness or absence would make it extremely difficult to source suitable cover, and could result in the Cylch having to close temporarily.
