Throughout 2023 we have seen a conllnued Increase in Ihe cosl of living for local residBnls driven
in part by high food innalion. This has exarerbated already high levels of food in5ecurily, meaning
Ihal demanLI for emergency food provision and olher forms of community food initiatives has
continued lo grow. Feeding Liverpool has led the Clty's response, brfnging together local acllvisls,
national and local Drg8nisalions, Liverpool's anchor organisèllons and pollcy makers in a
coordinated response.

We worked wllh Feeding Britain to secure £64,500 from the DuGhy of Lancaster Benevolent
Fund lo support 43 of OLEr members who lun communily food spaces. By coordinating one

The Heaifhy 3oost Projecl
The Healthy B0051 Project provide5 targeted sUPPOrt for people at acute risk of foad Insecurity. This
year, the focu5 for support is toward pregnant women and farnilies with young children on a low
income, asylum seekers and refugees, and kinshlp carers.
As the projecl develop5 in 2024, our 8im is to piovide regular foad support lor over 285 household5.
The Winler Boost Project
We worked wllh the five of our members to boost 7,723 emergency food parcels wilh fresh produce
from January to March 2023.
The project provides locally 50urced frull, vegetables and eggs to support the health ol households
facing crigi8 during the winter months.
A Healthy Start for Liverpool
We conlinued to grow our ne￿Ork ol CDmmunlty Heallhy Start Champlor)s and developed
pro9rgmme ofwork lo incre8se upt8k8 of the Heallhy Slart scheme locally, and campalgn for change
nationally.
We Irained 61 new Communlly Healthy Start Charnpions. bringing the total number of champiDns in
our nètWOTk to 187, who now promote the scheme across the ¢lly, and 5LtPPOTI pregftanl women
and families to sign up lo the scheme. Our model of IrBining has garnered Inlerest Irom other
localities Including Grealer Manchesterlsalfofd and Nolllngham. who ale looking to repllcale Ihe
Pfogramme in their oreas.

lo increase the value of Healthy Start caid payments.
The Queei? ol Greeiis
We partnered lo re-eslablish extend the Queen of Greens rnobile greengrocer9 service, through
whlch we have lrnproved acces5 to gtstsrj food across Liveipool and Knowsley. We have added new
slops onlo the roule to parllGularly support refugees and asylum seekers, and famllles wilh young
children as part of DUT Healthy Boost prolect.
The bus has been visited 16,900 limes over the lasl year.
The bus take5 a roule whlch visSls neighbourhoods classed as 'food deserts,, and brings fresh
produce to residents ol these areas. providing people with bettei opportunllies lo shop for nutrllious
food oloser lo their home or workplace.
The bus serves over 400 families each week. Customers can pay for their Shopping with Alexandra
Rose vouchers and Heallhy Start cards. We have developed promotional maleii815 and an online
rnap for the Quwon of Greens, which has been viewed 4400 Ilmes Ih15 year.
The Fed-up 81ow cooker coursgs
We dellvered the Fed-up Slow Cooker Tr8in-Ihe-Tralner Programme to equip community members
wilh the resources to support households in thelr communllles to cook good lood on a budgel.
30 new community leaders were trained lo dellver cooklng courses Sn their community, bringing the
lotal numb8T of Iralners to 58, eoch representing a dlfferenl cornmunity or organlsation. Each new
Irainer wa5 givon 10 slow cookers to support them lo deliver Iheir firsl courses.
So far. over 38 course5 have bEen delivered by communrty leaders across the city, supportlng over
300 members oflhelrcommunllies lo cook aood food on a budgel. try new foods. make new friend5
and save energy.

Young People and Food Ciliz8nshpp
We hosled workshops with 31 young people to explore them88 of food cilizenshlp and develop
young people's confidence lo use their voice lo speak out foi change. The young people were
supported exploie pholography, collage and cooking, lo become more pollllcally 8ware and
en>aged in issues of social justice related to food securlty.
Good Food for All Campaigns
We supported foodbank users. community groups and young people to contribute lo and Influence
policy debates locally and nationally. We have worked extenslvely with local and natlonal med18 to

Our ineome has grown from £204,314 to £543,432 a5 we have taken rjn new projecl slaff and
expanded our role in distribulSng resDUTGe5.
Feeding Liverpool remains In a slrong position as il rnoves ilItD 2024125. Our inlenllon for 2024125
is for steady growth as we build capacity lo have more Impact.
The priority for this year is increasing Independent fundrHi$lng and to raise our proflle wilhin the
food secloi more widely.
