## **REPORT OF THE TRUSTEES FOR THE YEAR ENDED 31 MARCH 2025**

The trustees present their report with the financial statements of the charity for the year ended 31 March 2025. The trustees have prepared the accounts on a receipts and payments basis.

## **Structure & Recruitment of Trustees**

The charity is governed by a constitution of a Charitable Incorporated Organization whose only voting members are its charity trustees. The Charity was registered on 15 July 2021, and the constitution was amended in October 2023 to reduce the minimum number of trustees to two.

There have been no structure or governance changes this financial year.

## **Principal Activities and Objectives**

Established in July 2021, Noah’s Pink Balloon Leukaemia Fund was set-up to fund medical research in the areas of pediatric hematology, pediatric oncology and invasive fungal infections attributable to the high infection risk of blood cancer patients.

The Charity was formed in memory and honour of Noah Tesselaar, who was diagnosed with leukaemia in May 2020 and died on the 05th of June 2020 at the age of five.

With Noah at the heart of the fund, the Charity wants to support the future care, diagnosis, and treatment of children with blood cancer to help save children's lives.

## **Main activities undertaken to further the charity’s purpose for the public benefit**

The Trustees will only consider funding research where in all cases it is intended that the knowledge acquired from the research will be disseminated to the public and others will be able to use or benefit from it, and where the research is conducted for the public benefit of Children’s health and not for commercial gain.

## **Summary of main achievements**

Following the successful completion of Noah’s Pink Balloon Fellowship at the Medical Research Council Centre for Medical Mycology (MRC CMM) located at the university of Exeter, the Trustees, the medical community and our supporters were proud to have the research of Dr. Alyssa Hudson published in the Medical Journal of Infectious Diseases entitled Characterization of the Spatiotemporal Localization of a Pan-Mucorales–Specific Antigen During Germination and Immunohistochemistry.

04th September marked the start of our collaboration with King’s House School, Richmond, which has been a very rewarding partnership for the final quarter of 2024. Events included two school assemblies to help raise awareness and promote the importance of medical research. The fundraising calendar has included a Wearing Pink Day in November and the Christmas Fair on 07th December 2024.

The Charity also received the Annual Impact report in relation to our project entitled "Base Editing for gentle repair of fragile DNA disorders” for the benefit of Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children NHS Foundation Trust (the “Foundation Trust”) and made the second payment of £25,000 on 07th February 2025. Our annual income for the period ending 31st March 2025 was £25,404.

## **INDEPENDENT EXAMINER'S REPORT TO THE TRUSTEES OF NOAH’S PINK BALLOON LEUKAEMIA FUND**

I report on the accounts for the year ended 31[st] March 2025 set out on pages five to eight.

This report is made solely to the charity’s Trustees, as a body, in accordance with Section 145 of the Charities Act 2011 and regulations made under Section 154 of that Act. My work has been undertaken so that I might state to the charity’s Trustees those matters I am required to state to them in an Independent Examiner’s report and for no other purpose. To the fullest extent permitted by law, I do not accept or assume responsibility to anyone other than the charity and charity’s Trustees as a body, for my work or for this report.

## **Respective responsibilities of trustees and examiner**

The charity's trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts. The charity's trustees consider that an audit is not required for this year (under Section 144(2) of the Charities Act 2011 (the 2011 Act)) and that an independent examination is required.

It is my responsibility to:

- examine the accounts under Section 145 of the 2011 Act

- to follow the procedures laid down in the General Directions given by the Charity Commission (under Section 145(5)(b) of the 2011 Act); and

- to state whether particular matters have come to my attention.

## **Basis of the independent examiner's report**

My examination was carried out in accordance with the General Directions given by the Charity Commission. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts and seeking explanations from you as trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit, and consequently no opinion is given as to whether the accounts present a 'true and fair view ' and the report is limited to those matters set out in the statements below.

## **Independent examiner's statement**

In connection with my examination, no matter has come to my attention:

(1) which gives me reasonable cause to believe that, in any material respect, the requirements

   - to keep accounting records in accordance with Section 130 of the 2011 Act; and

   - to prepare accounts which accord with the accounting records and to comply with the accounting requirements of the 2011 Act have not been met; or

- (2) to which, in my opinion, attention should be drawn in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
