## **Report of the Trustees** _for the year ending 31[st] March 2025_ 

The Trustees have pleasure in presenting their report and financial statements for the year ending 31[st] March 2025. This report is prepared in accordance with the charity’s constitution and the recommendations of the Statement of Recommended Practice – Accounting and Reporting by Charities and complies with applicable law. 

## **Constitution and Objects** 

The charity operates under the constitution produced by Mudiad Ysgolion Meithrin (MYM) which is used by all nurseries that are members of MYM. 

Trustees are appointed at the AGM by agreement of the committee, any additional trustees appointed throughout the year are done so by agreement of the committee. 

The principal object of the charity is to give pre-school education to children aged between two and a half and four year old for ten hours, twenty five minutes a week. 

## **Organisational Structure** 

The charity is run by a committee / trust of six people who are usually parents of the children attending the school. The committee meets on a quarterly basis and the meetings are attended by the School leader and her two junior members of staff. The staff members are not voting members of the committee. The day to day running of the charity is up to the appointed members of staff which is discussed at a monthly meeting. 

## **Relationship with Related Parties** 

The school is a member of Mudiad Ysgolion Meithrin, which is a charity that assists all Welsh medium nursery schools by providing advice / giving grants etc. 

## **Review of Activities and Achievements** 

The school has had the usual number of children, around twenty six in both the morning and afternoon and there are many more on a waiting list. 

There were no significant changes in activities during the year, and no events affecting the charity have occured since the year end. 

The trustees priority remains the same; to continue to educate the pre-school children of the area in a warm and friendly atmosphere. 

## **Contribution of Volunteers** 

At times, in particular during the summer term the charity has the help of some parents which we find very valuable. The charity is fortunate to receive assistance from other volunteers and the trustees are very grateful for this assistance. All volunteers are given advice by the Leader and members of the committee on what is expected of them.

## **Fundraising** 

The charity had a successful year of fundraising, a sum of £2,137 was raised in the year. This was acheived by organising a sponsored walk around the Castle, Christmas party, raffle, selling decorations and calendars. The charity is based in an under privileged area and many of the parents of the children are on income support, therefore it is always going to be difficult to raise large amounts of money but the trustees are very happy with the amount raised over the year. 

## **Risk Assesment** 

The trustees have assesed the major risks to which the charity is exposed, in particular those related to the operations and finance of the Charity, and are satisfied that systems are in place to mitigate our exposure to those risks. 

## **Reserves** 

Reserves are kept in order to meet the day to day running costs of the charity and to be sufficient to cover four months expenditure if current income sources ceased. The reserves in the bank amounted to £18,186 at 31[st] March 2025.

## **Training** 

All staff have been very busy again this year attending various training: 

Paediatric First aid Child Protection Level 3 and Level 2 Elklan Level 2/3 Makaton Food Hygiene Transferring CIW Information In the Moment Planning ALN 

We have come to the end of another year at Cylch Meithrin Seiont a Pheblig. It has been a happy and busy year. We have had 26 in our two daily sessions with many more on the register. Here is a taste of the highlights of the year: 

## **CIW & ESTYN INSPECTION** 

In February the Cylch had an inspection from CIW and ESTYN. Thank you to all the staff for their dedication and hard work all through the year but especially during the inspection. Thank you also to the parents and carers for their support and feedback to CIW during the inspection. We are glad to be able to report that the inspection was successful.

## **Welsh Government Flying Start** 

We have registered with Dechrau’n Deg and GP2 (Free childcare for 2 year olds) for another year; this gives many children the opportunity to attend the Cylch for free. (Ask your health visitor for more information.) Through Dechrau’n Deg and GP2 the staff get the opportunity to attend training and the Cylch receives new resources annually. We also receive support from Dechrau’n Deg staff. The Cylch received a substantial grant through Dechrau’n Deg to install new soft flooring outside in the play area so the children can play outside in all weathers. The Cylch also received a further grant towards buying resources for the Cylch. 

## **Mudiad Meithrin** 

The Cylch has registered with Mudiad Meithrin which also supports the Cylch. 

## **Activities** 

The Cylch takes part in many different activities which help the children’s development. The children have had music session every week. This helps the children to develop their musical skills and recognise tone and rhythm. Developing musical skills helps the children develop as they play and learn. The Cylch is also part of ‘Cynllun Gwen’ and each child takes part by cleaning their teeth in every session. The Cylch also follows the Healthy Pre-School Model. 

## **Trips** 

It’s always fun to go on the end of year trip. This year, we visited Gypsy Wood Park, Bontnewydd. 

## **Fundraising** 

As you know, fundraising is very important in the Cylch. As a registered charity we are dependant on Dechrau’n Deg grants and funding from the Education Deptartment at Cyngor Gwynedd. But we also need to fundraise to have enough funds to run the Cylch. We therefore encourage parents and the committee to fundraise every year. The committee and staff would like to thank all the parents and families and friends for all their support during the year with fundraising. Here are some of the acitvities that were organised: 

- Sponsored walk around the castle and a picnic ‘Dros yr Aber’. 

- The staff organised a Christmas Party and bouncy castle for the children. Father Christmas also visited and everyone received a present. 

- We sold christmas decorations, calendars and had a raffle. 

- Clothes recycling scheme through Antur Waunfawr’s big blue bin scheme. The Cylch receives a donation every time the bin is emptied. So remember to come and recycle your old clothes at Noddfa! 

- A raffle was organised in June. Thank you to everyone who supported the raffle. 

The Cylch also works with Easy Fundraising 

I would like to end this report by thanking all the staff, parents and the committee for all your support during the year. Thank you also to Noddfa Community Centre’s committee and the caretaker who give their support to the Cylch.

## **Independent Examiner’s Report to the Trustees of Cylch Meithrin Seiont a Pheblig** 

I report on the accounts of the Trust for the year ended 31[st] March 2025, which are set out on pages 7 to 10. 

## **Respective responsibilities of trustees and examiner** 

The charity’s trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts. The charity’s trustees consider that an audit is not required for this year (under section 144(2) of the Charities Act 2011 (The 2011 Act) and that an independent examination is needed. 

It is my responsibility to: 

- examine the accounts under section 145 of the 2011 Act; 

- to follow the procedures laid down in the General Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the 2011 Act; and 

- to state whether particular matters have come to my attention. 

## **Basis of independent examiner’s report** 

My examination was carried out in accordance with the General Directions given by the Charity Commissioners. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts, and seeking explanations from you as trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit, and consequently no opinion is given as to whether the accounts present a ‘true and fair view’ and the report is limited to those matters set out in the statement below. 

## **Independent examiner’s statement** 

In connection with my examination, no matter has come to my attention: 

(1) which gives me reasonable cause to believe that in any material respect the requirements 

- to keep accounting records in accordance with section 130 of the 2011 Act; and 

- to prepare accounts which accord with the accounting records and comply with the accounting requirements of the 2011 Act have not been met; or 

(2) to which, in my opinion, attention should be drawn in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.

Non-financial assets 

The charity resides at the community centre in Caernarfon. 

The charity has furniture and equipment (value unknown) including tables and chairs, sitting unit, play house, toys, slide and seesaw, sandpit and table, kitchen equipment and numerous small toys, books and colouring equipment. The equipment is in reasonable condition and around fifteen years old.
