||Summary of the<br>purposes of the charity<br>as set out in its<br>governing document|The aims of the charity (Zaytuna) as set out in the governing body are:<br>(a) To provide social space or facilities for the elderly to combat loneliness,<br>mainly those of Somali ethnicity and those in need residing in Birmingham and<br>surrounding areas.<br>(b) To provide young people, especially females of Somali ethnicity living in<br>Birmingham and surrounding areas, advice, assistance, and programmes of<br>physical, educational, and other activities as a means of:<br>· Advancing their life skills to participate in society as independent, mature, and<br>responsible individuals.<br>· Promoting good citizenship.<br>· Accessing avenues to discuss issues about higher education and networking<br>skills.<br>· Combatting unemployment by supporting young people in developing their<br>entrepreneurship and enterprising skills and apprenticeships in becoming<br>financially independent.<br>· Accessing recreational and leisure time activities.<br>(c) To advance the religion of Islam for the benefit of the public through raising<br>awareness and understanding of the Islamic faith.<br>(d) To provide relief of poverty or financial hardship, particularly orphans<br>anywhere in the world, in particular Mogadishu, Somalia, by providing or<br>assisting in the provision of education, training, healthcare projects and all the<br>necessary support designed to enable individuals, to generate a sustainable<br>income and be self-sufficient.|

The elders who join us enjoy discussing their life<br>experiences, and these sessions help them meet new friends. Additionally,<br>many struggle with reading, and these sessions were opportunities for them to<br>gain reading skills.<br>(b) Educational and training: We provide online education and training sessions<br>for young people and adults, as the content proved beneficial for all. We had<br>external speakers come in and give advice on different opportunities.<br>(c) Arabic Language Classes: We organised many Arabic learning classes for<br>students of all levels.<br>(d) Hardship relief: The charity funds an orphanage in Mogadishu, Somalia.<br>This provides a chance for impoverished orphans to progress in education and<br>health.|
