Trustees, Annual Report Period 30-_ June 2021- 29 June 2022 Wlnter 2021122- In December the charity was successful in a grant application to Rother Distrirt Counc'.l. The funding en3bled the charity to commi55ion signage boards aimed at promoting the use of Britlsh Sign Language in public Spaces and a better understanding of the deaf culture. The charity has also attended local primary schools to hold BSL workshops with the children and has had printed booklets that residents or org3nisation5 can use at home or work. These are available to pick up from librarys, the Job Centre, cafe's, and Khools. Our work alongside the UNA Climate & Oteans continued a5 we sLipi)orted the organi5ation to host an official COP26 Fringe event. Over Febmary school half temi we were joined ty around 10 famil5 interested in learning about plastic pollution in the sea. We were sugported by the Marine ConseNation S(Kbety to host a series of beach school seSsn5 looking at marine Irtter and the natural environment. Early winter saw the charity build strong relat+5 Wrth the 8exhill Environmental Group with whom the charity now works to reduce litter in the Bexhill area. Many of these litter picks are also supported by volunteers from the Green Party and some Rother District Council Councillors. Plans for the proposed Bexhill Beach Garden started to come together and this is an ongoing projert to enable both access for all to the beach at South Cliff in 8exhill. as well as upgrading the accessible toilet facility, increasing beach biodiversity, and reducing coastal erosion. Towards the end of the winter period the charity ran our first Science Week event In Icklesham, bring science to rural areas. Spring 2022- the spring months have been our busiest yet. The signage for the BSL communication project was installed in children's play areas across Rother, as well as local primary schools. During Mavs school holiday we ran a series of official launch events in all the signage locations. We were joined at these events by representatives and volunteers from Rother District Council, 8exhill Town Council, and local deaf support orgonisation Deafcog. Over the spring period several new projects have started up. Firstly, with thanks from funding from Nei8hbourly and the Magic Little Grants we have been able to support access to outdoor fitness, which has been particularly popular with those strugglin8 Wlth their mental health or brain injury. The group 15 flexible enough that carers and children can get invofved too, which has seen number5 increase and whole families attending logether. This is particularly important during schoo5 holidays where parents struggle with childcare. During these times the charity combines their forest school ctivities for the children alongside the fitness group for the adults. We also ran a very successful Cook & Grow pilot session in Sidley, where families Struggling financially or with confidence in the kitchen were invited for a full days cooking and growin8 event with the support of the Freedom Church and Bexhill Neighbourhood Gardener Scheme. Due to the success of this pilot we are now exploring ways to expand and grow this project into the later parts of 2022 and beyond, which we feel is especially important with the current cost of living crisis. Alongside these face-to-face workshops the charity is putting together printed recipe booklets which w511 be available via food banks and food projects. These Should be available to the public in the Autumn of 2022. Finally, we have secured funding to run a series of 5UPPOrt groups for women. of any age, in the district that might be struggling with their mental health. the ability to find meaningful 'me time,. or who may have k)st their employment over the past 2 years and are struggling to get back into the

Waterways Community- we hold family beach school sessions during school holidays to showcase our amazing coastline to families who mi8ht not otherwise get a chance to visit the beach. We also work closety with the UNA Climate and Oceans by co-hosting their online webinars and in person events such as the Ocean Symposium.This partnership has led to the charity earning a Generation Restoration Certification. We quickly achieved our first successful small grant applications which enabled the charity to begin project work fairly quickly. Over the summer period we hosted several popular beach school sessions seeing anything up to 20 families join us. We also begun di5CUs5ions about a more permanent base for the charity. exploring several options across the district. In September 2021 we attended The Clean Earth Show in Hasting5 hosted by Sally-Ann Hart MP. where we were able to meet residents and other organi5ations and talk about beach litter. a5 well as hold an in-person beach litter pick. One of our first artivities was to co-host the UNA 8iodiversity & Climate Crisis Summit. During thls online event we helped to officially launch the UN Decade of Ecosystem Restoration. This summit was attended by delegates from 20 countries. Durlng the summer months we began discussion with a landowner in Icklesham with the view to opening a permanent forest school and community orchard project. Unfortunately, over the following months these discussions stalled, and the projert has temporarily been put on hold. We have also looked at available venue usage in Rye. but again nothin8 concrete has been a8reed. Autumn 2021- discussions with Rother District Council with regards the development of an Eco Hub and Outdoor Education facility began. In November 2021 the charity was granted funds from the National Lotterfs COP26 Fund to cover the costs of developing 3 strong business plan for each Site, these plans were Submitted to the council mid-April and the chartty now awaits news of the next steps. These projects are long term and have the support from numerous or8anisations inclLtding Bexhill Heritage, Bexhill Wheelers, The P.a5tings Library of Things, Make & Mend. to name but a few. The project also has stron8SUPPOrt from Huw Merriman MP. who in earty 2022 attended toth 51tes to hear more about the plans. We continued holdin8 beach and forest school sessions with num)r5 fituatin& but steadity increasing- In September the charity begun a 9-month training course to become an official My Food Community Champion which consisted of weekly online training sessions in leadership, food, and community cohesion. During this period the charity was gained certification as part of the United Nations Generation Restoration campaign.
