I report to the charity trustees on my examina�on of the accounts of the Company for the year ended 28 February 2025.

Responsibili�es and basis of report

As the Charity’s trustees of the Company (and also its directors for the purposes of company law) you are responsible for the prepara�on of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Companies Act 2006.

Part 16 of the 2006 Act and are eligible for independent examina�on, I report in respect of my examina�on of your charity’s accounts as carried out under sec�on 145 of the Chari�es Act 2001. In carrying out my examina�on I have followed the Direc�ons given by the Charity Commission under sec�on 145(5) (b) of the 2011 Act.

Independent examiner’s statement

connec�on with the examina�on giving me cause to believe:

  1. Accoun�ng records were not kept in respect of the Company as required by sec�on 386 of the 2006 Act

  2. The accounts do not accord with those records

  3. The accounts do not comply with the accoun�ng requirements of sec�on 396 of the 2006 Act other than any requirement that the accounts give a true and fair view which is not a ma�er considered as part of an independent examina�on

  4. The accounts have not been prepared in accordance with the methods and principles of the Statement of Recommended Prac�ce for accoun�ng and repor�ng by chari�es (applicable to chari�es preparing their accounts in accordance with the Financial Repor�ng Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS102))

I have no concerns and have come across no other ma�ers in connec�on with the examina�on to which a�en�on should be drawn in this report in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.

The trustees who are also directors of the charity for the purposes of the Companies Act 2006,

The trustees have adopted the provisions of Accoun�ng and Repor�ng by Chari�es: Statement of Recommended Prac�ce applicable to chari�es preparing their accounts in accordance with the Financial Repor�ng Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS 102) (effec�ve 1 January 2019).

OBJECTIVES AND ACTIVITIES

Objec�ves and aims

of Widnes and the surrounding area, by the provision of facili�es and coaching for gymnas�cs.

We a�ract gymnasts from Widnes, as well as various areas of Warrington, and aim to provide high quality facili�es and gymnas�cs coaching for all members.

The Club was awarded charity status in 2022.

The Club received Coronavirus Grants during the year from the local council.

The Charity is open to all children and young people regardless of ethnicity, sexual orienta�on or ability. We offer classes from pre-school to young adults. The catchment area within which we work is in the top 10% depriva�on na�onally. The charity con�nues to offer gymnasts of all ages a safe and secure place to prac�ce and enjoy gymnas�cs, providing the opportunity to par�cipate in healthy and structured ac�vi�es.

Volunteers

We con�nues to rely on a number of volunteers to coach gymnas�cs, carry out the welfare facili�es and encourage the older members to get involved with the younger classes, crea�ng a family, nurturing environment. In a recent parents ques�onnaire this was one of the posi�ve aspects of the club that was highlighted. All volunteers are DBS checked. We are very grateful to parents and friends who give up their �me for the benefit of our club and its members.

ACHIEVEMENT AND PERFORMANCE

Charitable ac�vi�es

We have used a number of opportuni�es to generate funds. Sales of clothing have been the most

Principal funding sources

The main source of income is from a�endance fees and the hos�ng of events. Overall income rose

from £178,652 to £214,627.

Governing document

The charity is controlled by its governing document, a deed of trust, and cons�tutes a limited company, limited by guarantee, as defined by the Companies Act 2006.

Recruitment and appointment of new trustees

Trustees are selected for the contribu�on that they can make to the various ac�vi�es of the Club.

This includes instruc�ng and coaching, welfare of children and professional skills.

STRUCTURE, GOVERNANCE AND MANAGEMENT

Organisa�onal structure

The club is predominantly run by the Head Coach, Victoria Wood, who has support from a group of coaches who volunteer their �me to the club.

The Trustees meet at least four �mes a year to review the progress of the club and agree future plans for the charity. At the quarterly mee�ngs various aspects of the running of the club are discussed and decisions made.

Induc�on and training of new trustees

Trustees are given instruc�on in all aspects of safety, welfare and child protec�on. Everyone on

the board of directors undergoes a CRB check as directed by Bri�sh Gymnas�cs.
