PRINCIPAL ACTIVITIES The principal activity of the charity is raising funds to bring back into Use the first independent Mosque in England and to establish a Heritage Centre to promote inter-falth dialogue and cultural understanding among all communlties. OBJECT AND AIMS OF THE CHARITY The main object of the charity is the promotlon of Islam for the benefit of all by disseminating its teachings and to advance the education of the public in the heritage of Islam in Liverpool and elsewhere by the provision and maintenanie of a heritage centre TRUSTEES The Trustees who served during the year ended 17th September 202 3 were Mr Calib Khan (Chalrl Dr Abdul Hamid (Secretary & Co-chair) Iman Ajmal Ma5roor Dr Mohanned Ahmed Prof. Ron Greaves Dr Altaf Q Khattak They have no beneficial interest in the charity. STRucfuRE, GOVERNANCE AND MANAGEMENT The Annual General Meeting of the Charity elects the Trustees and Honorary officers and appoints independent examiners and considers and approves the annual report and accounts for the preceeding year. The Trustees meet regularly to discuss the charitie5 affair5 and receive reports of its activities. All Df the management and administration 15 undertaken on a voluntary basis. The trustees include staff and trustees Df other relevant organisations in their meetings. Page 2

Abdullah Quilliam Society Regisiered Charity No. 1194942 [formerly 1086228) Report of the Trustees for the year ended 17th September 2023 REPORT ON ACHIEVEMENTS IN YEAR 2022-23 Overcoming the legacy of COVID had severely impaeled us, we are now on the road to recovery. Working with local GP Groups and NHS we still offer vaccinations services in north Liverpool. Despite these challenge5, AQS ha5 3d3Pted well to tlleet the need5 of our congregation, sewice users and wider communities we serve. This year we ran a new Ottoman themed Ramadan activity prograrnme. With support from Governrnent of the RepubliG of Turkiye, we revived the traditions of past. Imam-Hatib Mohammed Ali lead part of Tarawih prayers slong with our resident Im3ms Sheikh K3ssim Sadik and Sheikh Waddah Saleh. The Iftar and Suhuls were prepared by Chefs from Turkiye and were Se￿ed in traclitional Ottornan Style We had good positive responses from our seNice users. AQS was able to resume our usual activitiÈ& such as Friday 8nd daily congreg81ional prayers. Our current Friday congregation Size has over 2,000 worshippers. On Fridays, we use all the available rooms in 1-10 Brougham Terrace to serve our congregation. With rapidly Increasing numbers, this too will not have Ènough space. The TruslÈes have therefore negotiated to purchase 11-12 8rougharn Terrace frorn Rimmers Music. This would increase our capacity to accommodate 5,000 worshippers for Jumah prayers. To serve our visitors AQS have opened a new sÈlf-unding Quilliam Community Cafè which also generates modest income toward the running cost of our setviTrs AQS is continuing with regular aGtivities, some working with partners. othÈrs focus&d on young people and women to make the most of the additional spa￿S in 1-7 Brougharn Terrate. We are offering a madrasah and Islamic classes for adolescent girls, karate lessons for ¢hildren. and adutt vocational edu¢ation. Finally. fundraising forAQS has continued unabatÈd despite the pandemic. again relying heavily on digital channels. We launched a new appeal to raise £ 500.0(K) for the purchase of 11-12 Bmugham Terrace. We are requesting all our service u5er5 3nd visitors to don?te Iurnp SUTn5 Qr give Qa￿-￿aSana (interèst free loans) to pay for the purchase. The completion date for thi5 purchase is 30 Sepletllber 2024 1 urge you to glve Sedaka-e-Jaria for this purchase as soon as you can through our website and AQS payment card machines. Terrace5. Currently we have 14 rooms In 8-10 Brotn. Terrace. Opportunities to hold private family or community Èvents. Support the Lotr21 Authority, LFC & Everton Food Bank. Promot* interfaith talks RISK MANAGEMENT AND RESERVES POLICY It is the responsibility of the Trustees to a8sess the main risks the Charity is exposed to, particularly those relating to the operatlOll5 and finances of the trust. The Trustees undertake this assessrnent and ensure that 8yStem8 are in place to mitigate and manage the Charity's exposure to any rnajor risks. The level of current unrestrictÈd funds is £19261. The Trustees are satisfied that this level is sufficient to meet any obligations arising through the operation of the Charity at the current tim&. The Trustees have considered the requirement to m8intain free reserves and are satisfied that the Charlty has a need lo establish free resÈrves to absorb the major fluctuations in funding received without curtailing ils activities. This ha5 currently been calculated to b8 approximately £10.000 and the Trustees are currently seeking further donations.
