Chesham United Youth Football Club - Trustees' Report for the Year Ending 30 June 2025 

## Introducton: 

The trustees present their report and the financial statements for Chesham United Youth Football Club (the "Club") for the year ending 30 June 2025. The Club's primary objective is to provide opportunities for young people in Chesham and the surrounding area in a fun, safe, nurturing and inclusive environment to participate in organised football, promoting physical activity, teamwork, respect, healthy living and personal development. 

## Objectves and Actvites: 

Key Objectives for 2024/2025: 

- Provide training and competitive football opportunities for boys and girls aged 4 to 18. 

- Organise and participate in local and regional leagues and tournaments. 

- Invest in coaching qualifications and resources to enhance the quality of training. 

- Promote fair play, sportsmanship, and respect among players, coaches, and parents. 

- Maintain and improve the Club’s facilities and equipment. 

- Strengthen links with the senior Chesham United FC, forging the ‘One Chesham’ ethos. 

- Organise our annual tournament as fundraising to support the Club's activities. 

## Achievements and Performance: 

A successful year on the field was celebrated with the following achievements: 

- U6 Panthers – Tring Tornadoes tournament winners 

- U7 Cobras – Chesham United Youth Tournament runners up 

- U8 Sharks – Matter Hatters Tournament winners 

- U8 Tigers – Chesham United Youth Tournament winners 

- U9 Vikings – West Herts Youth League Cup Final winners 

- U12 Blues – Aston Clinton Tournament winners 

- U13 Rangers – Runners up in their division 

- U14 Clarets – 2[nd] in Division 3 West Herts League 

- U16 Generals – League winners Chiltern Church League 

- U17 – promotion to Division 3 West Herts U18’s 

- In June the Club held it’s biggest tournament to date, spanning 2 days and with over 1655 spectators in attendance. We hosted 175 teams and played 920 games across 9 age groups from U7 to U15, which, for the first time, also included girls-only teams.

## Financial Review: 

The Club maintained a healthy and stable financial position throughout the year. 

- Income was primarily generated from membership fees, our annual tournament, and sponsorships. 

- Expenditure included coaching fees, pitch hire, equipment purchases, and league registration fees. 

- The club has a reserves policy of 20% of annual running costs to ensure we can meet our ongoing financial commitments. The current level of reserves is deemed appropriate by the trustees. 

- The full financial statements are attached to this report. 

## Governance and Management: 

- The Club is governed by a board of trustees who meet to oversee the Club's activities. 

- Policies and Codes of Conduct are in situ to ensure the safety and well-being of all members. 

## Public Beneft: 

The Club provided football services to approximately 616 youth players across 41 teams staffed by 62 volunteer coaches. The Club continued to provide a valuable service to the local community with all Club activities undertaken to fulfil the stated charitable ocjectives by 

- Offering young people the opportunity to participate in organised sport. 

- Ensuring all children have the opportunity to play football, regardless of financial circumstances, through our hardship fund. 

- Promoting healthy lifestyles and social inclusion through football. 

Our activities include weekly training sessions, and participation in the West Herts League, South Bucks League and the Combined Counties League. 

The Trustees confirm that they have complied with their duty to have regard to the Charity Commission’s guidance on public interest. 

## Plans for Future Periods: 

The Club's priorities for the coming year include: 

- Securing a partnership with Macron for the provision of training and match kits, as well as launching an online Kit Shop. 

- Securing additional funding to improve facilities.

## Trustees' Responsibilites Statement: 

The trustees are responsible for preparing the Trustees' Report and the annual financial statements in accordance with applicable law and regulations. 

The trustees are responsible for keeping proper accounting records that disclose with reasonable accuracy at any time the financial position of the Club and enable them to ensure that its financial statements are compliant. They are also responsible for safeguarding the assets of the Club and hence for taking reasonable steps for the prevention and detection of fraud and other irregularities. 

The Trustees confirm that they have referred to the guidance contained in the Charity Commission’s general guidance on public benefit when reviewing the Club’s aims and objectives and in planning future activities. 

The charity has no corporate trustees, nor any trustees holding title to property belonging to the charity. The charity does not act as a custodian trustee on behalf of any other entity and does not hold any assets other than its own.

The operational accounts for the 2024–25 season provide a comprehensive overview of the club’s financial activity and reflect another year of strong engagement across all age groups. The club continued to generate healthy income through membership subscriptions and tournament activity, while investing significantly in facilities, equipment, and coaching to support the development of our players.

## Income 

Membership fees remained the club’s principal income stream, contributing £119,343.58, supported by a successful tournament programme which generated £23,705.44 through registration fees, gate receipts, vendor contributions, and programme advertising. 

Additional income included shirt sponsorship (£6,450.00), grants (£1,956.00), recovery of FA fines (£367.00), miscellaneous fundraising and operational income (£748.00 combined), and sub-letting of pitches (£480.00). These sources demonstrate the club’s continued ability to attract support from members, sponsors, and the wider community. 

## Expenditure 

The club’s largest expenditure remained training venues (£41,903.89), reflecting our - commitment to providing high quality training environments throughout the season. 

Other significant costs included kit purchases (£40,432.60), referees (£5,625.69), equipment (£4,961.02), league registration fees (£4,430.00), external paid coaches (£6,065.00), pitch improvements (£3,351.20), miscellaneous operations (£3,118.62), Awards Day (£3,366.47), and the Veo Camera subscription (£827.00). 

Tournament-related expenditure totalled £11,013.27, covering referees, first aid, line marking, toilet hire, refreshments, and operational logistics.

- The Development Fund continues to play a central role in supporting long term projects and infrastructure improvements that enhance the club’s facilities and future growth. The fund’s grew over the year to 67,922.63 both prudent financial management and the club’s ongoing success in generating income for development purposes. 

## Commentary 

The club delivered a £17,258.28 operating surplus, reflecting strong income generation and careful management of expenditure. This surplus strengthens the club’s financial position and supports long-term sustainability. The trustees remain committed to reinvesting in facilities, coaching, and equipment to ensure that all players benefit from a safe, enjoyable, and well-resourced footballing environment.

I have completed my examination. I confirm that no material matters have come to my attention in connection with the examination giving me cause to believe that in any material respect: 

1. accounting records were not kept in respect of the Trust as required by section 130 of the Act; or 

2. the accounts do not accord with those records.
