## **Trustees Report**

## **Statement from the Chairperson**

This year has been both exciting and challenging due to different things we have achieved and challenging in that we lost some of our members due to relocation.

Yeovil is a growing town which continues to attract a significant number of people from other parts of the country and beyond to work in Yeovil District Hospital (YDH) and Leonardo which are the main employers for the local community. So as a church we received several people looking for a place to worship and feel at home. Like the previous years we helped them to settle and assisted in their social and cultural integration having come from different parts of the nation and the world. Equally some left the town after training to go for greener pastures.

Our men’s group attended a workshop on wellness and wellbeing. They also looked at topics about raising safe men in order to create safer communities. They also looked at topics to do with male health not normally talked about. Although some members relocated, we still maintained a steady growth of our members, and we are grateful for their contribution to the charity. This year our football team played with teams from other churches and community. This is one of the platforms we used to network and impact the Yeovil community. We are happy that we came third in a tournament that was held in Bristol.

As part of spiritual growth, we introduced weekly life cell small discipleship gatherings to teach the members various life skills and Christian values to live by. We also organised a team of educators who volunteered their time each week to come and teach believers helping them to grasp foundational biblical teachings. In these small group teachings, the new people were assimilated into the church community hence creating a support network for other areas of life.

As a charity, we engaged in various social activities. These included Men’s breakfast and conference, Women’s conference and retreat, youth retreat, church picnic and barbeque, Mothering Sunday celebrations, Father’s Day celebrations, baby showers and dedications. We held community Christmas carols and donated to the mayor`s Christmas fund and various care homes. All these various platforms brought church members and the community together in a spirit of goodwill, kindness and shared values.

We collaborated with other churches and participated in local street pastoring and evangelism along the streets of Yeovil. This gave us an opportunity to engage with the marginalised and vulnerable in our community. These and other initiatives helped bring community transformation which is one of the aims of our charity.

Finally, I would like to appreciate the pastors, all the trustees and the volunteers for the continued and tireless sacrifice they make to ensure the charity’s services are credible and keeping in line with strategic goals as stated in the bible, Trust deed and the church vision.

## **Independent Examiner's report to the Trustees**

I report to the trustees on my examination of the accounts of the above charity for the above period.

## **Responsibilities and basis of report:**

As the charity's trustees, you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 (“the Act”).

I report in respect of my examination of the Trust’s accounts carried out under section 145 of the 2011 Act and in carrying out my examination, I have followed all the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Act.

## **Independent examiner's statement:**

I have completed my examination. I confirm that no material matters have come to my attention in connection with the examination which gives me cause to believe that in, any material respect:

* the accounting records were not kept in accordance with section 130 of the Charities Act; or

- the accounts did not accord with the accounting records; or

- the accounts did not comply with the applicable requirements concerning the form and content of accounts set out in the Charities (Accounts and Reports) Regulations 2008 other than any requirement that the accounts give a ‘true and fair’ view which is not a matter considered as part of an independent examination.

I have no concerns and have come across no other matters in connection with the examination to which attention should be drawn in this report in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
