## **Trustees Report**

## **Statement from the Chairperson**

This year was eventful and exciting. We had several events internally and joint ventures with our sister networks. We also had great opportunities where we collaborated with external organisations for the good of our town.

Yeovil is a small growing town which attracts a significant number of people from other parts of the country and beyond to work in Yeovil District Hospital (YDH) and Leonardo which are the main employers for the local community. So as a church we received several people looking for a place to worship and feel at home. We helped them to settle and assisted in their social and cultural integration having come from different parts of the nation and the world.

We experienced a steady growth of our members who included young energetic and dynamic men. They formed a football team which from time to time played with teams from other churches and community. This is one of the platforms we used to network and impact the Yeovil community.

As part of spiritual growth, we introduced weekly Sunday morning discipleship classes to teach the members various life skills and Christian values to live by. We also organised a team of educators who volunteered their time each week to come and teach believers helping them to grasp foundational biblical teachings. In these small group teachings, the new people were assimilated into the church community hence creating a support network for other areas of life.

As a charity, we engaged in various social activities. These included Men’s breakfast and conference, Women’s conference and retreat, youth retreat, church picnic and barbeque, Mothering Sunday celebrations, Father’s day celebrations, baby showers and dedications. We held community Christmas carols and donated to the mayor`s Christmas fund and various care homes. All these various platforms brought church members and the community together in a spirit of goodwill, kindness and shared values. We collaborated with other churches and participated in local street pastoring and evangelism along the streets of Yeovil. This gave us an opportunity to engage with the marginalised and vulnerable in our community. These and other initiatives helped bring community transformation which is one of the aims of our charity.

During this year, one of the trustee members, (Mrs Patience Osoria) turned 70 and decided to step down as the assistant treasurer and signatory. We are grateful for her contribution to the team during her time and wish her well in her retirement. In our last board meeting, Mrs Priscilla Justice, who is one of the pastoral team became her replacement and we are looking forward to working well with her.

Finally, I would like to appreciate the pastors, all the trustees and the volunteers for the continued and tireless sacrifice they make to ensure the charity’s services are credible and keeping in line with strategic goals as stated in the bible, Trust deed and the church vision.

## **Independent Examiner's report to the Trustees**

I report to the trustees on my examination of the accounts of the above charity for the above period.

## **Responsibilities and basis of report:**

As the charity's trustees, you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 (“the Act”).

I report in respect of my examination of the Trust’s accounts carried out under section 145 of the 2011 Act and in carrying out my examination, I have followed all the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Act.

## **Independent examiner's statement:**

I have completed my examination. I confirm that no material matters have come to my attention in connection with the examination which gives me cause to believe that in, any material respect:

* the accounting records were not kept in accordance with section 130 of the Charities Act; or

- the accounts did not accord with the accounting records; or

- the accounts did not comply with the applicable requirements concerning the form and content of accounts set out in the Charities (Accounts and Reports) Regulations 2008 other than any requirement that the accounts give a ‘true and fair’ view which is not a matter considered as part of an independent examination.

I have no concerns and have come across no other matters in connection with the examination to which attention should be drawn in this report in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
