Heart of the Community exists to alleviate the symptoms of poverty and social Isolation that
often result In mental health diSt￿sS through the provislon of providing a daily hot meal.
meeting place to chat and form friendships, and providing a range of activities on a daily
basis to learn new skills and have fun together.
The majorlty of our 8uests have bÈen referred to us by Wlltshlre Centre for Independent
Livin8 Icommunlty Connectors) to ensu￿ that Services a￿ beln8 provided speclfically to
those In our community who are in need In accordance with our primarytar8et guests. The
process of referral Is a two-way proces5, With the trustees, referrln8 guests who need
additional support to Community Connectors.
How are the obJ•rtives met?
Heart of the Communty provldes a wam. safe, non-judgemental envlronment that
empowers people of diverse ages and backgrounds. Guests are encouraged and motivated
to be the best version of themselves that they can be.
The provlslon of dally hot meals and aclivltfes ensure5 that guests are nourlshed physlcally,
mentally and emotionally, enrichln8 people's Ilves and enabling them to form frlendships.
At its conception in 2021, Heart of the Communlty provided meals for an average of 3 to 4
people daily. thls rose to 7-10 people in 2022. By the end of thls financlal ￿ar, Heart of the
Community regularly saw 10 to IS people each day, most of whom stsyed for the full day.
As our daily and varled activities expand. thls figure remained constsnt in the current year.
As an annual ¢alculatlon, thls equates to an avera8e of 4.5￿ meals, excludin8 special events.

How were we funded?
Heart of the Community are 8ratefvl for the financial support through grants and donations
that enabled the organlsation to carry out Its activities. The Charity was successful in
securln8 a number of small 8rants alon855de its fundralsln8 activlties to continue existing
projects and enable us to purchase Ingredients for food and materlals for activltoes.

the opportunlty for our

together to enjoy a
traditional meal wlth
eir friends. This
allowed them to put aside their
mental health issues for a couple of hour5 and enjoy
themselves, courtesy of Calne Town Council and the
One Stop Shop.

certlflcate In recognition of her work In supportin8

Actlvltles and Events
Durin8 the week Heart of the Comrnunty enjoyed a varlety of activities
from an hour-lon8 Singin8 for fun session. where there was much toe
tspplng and movement, Seated Sports and we welcomed a new activity
entitled pathway to yO8a. These athvities ceased in the year due to
the Ilmlted partlclpation.
We are grateful to the Calne Singers for performlng in support
of Heart of the Community to raise additional
funds.

craftlng sesslons in the forn) of knlttlng
and crocheting and ha5 stsrted a
diamond art session too.
The charlty is always Ilstening for new ideas for actlvltles that may be of Irbterest to the
tommunlty.
SNII-Calne Welcomes Ukralnlans
The Ukrainian Project. started in May 2022, had matured to be established a5 a charlty In Its
own rlght, and Heart of the Communlty were thrilled to see It grow In this way, as we closed
down our own Involvement and supporL We wish it well as It continues to or8anlse and
support Its own events.
