Chairman’s Address
The main project in 2022 was revamping the entrance hall. We employed an independent museum consultant, Emma Shepley, to recommend updating our displays . She was very helpful and gave us an action plan to keep us busy for the next few years. We started on the display and entrance This meant changing the layout and taking away the old cabinet.
We also had a new display about the Southminster Dig which was done by the U3A Archaeology Society . This was funded by a grant which also allowed us to get 3 new cabinets.
The outing was a boat trip on the barge Victoria from Paper Mill lock on the Chelmer Blackwater canal. It was perfect weather and very enjoyable even if the scones left much to be desired.
Talks started again with in September Subjects were “The Commandos”, “Land round upper Burnham”, and “Medieval Maldon”.
We combined the Christmas Social and Stewards’ Thank You event to hold a social with “Guess the artefacts“ in December.
We now have a card reader and visitor numbers were about the same.
Sadly, Pat Mullins died suddenly in December and will be missed. We thank Zoe Bridges and Jenny Harris for stepping in and becoming the Ephemera Archivists.
Thank you to all the stewards and helpers without you the Museum and building would not keep going
Honorary Treasurer’s Report
As there were no questions to the Treasurer, the Reports were approved. Proposed: David Hopkins seconded Shirley Rose
