St Mary’s Little Rainbows
St Mary’s Little Rainbows is a charitable incorporated organisation which operates to benefit the children and parents of our school community. Our fees are set at a level to ensure it is affordable for parents. Our charity is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of our pupils and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
OUR OBJECTIVE
Our objectives are set to reflect the ethos of our school; Believing and growing, learning and achieving with God by our side. It is important to us that we offer after school care for our children with staff that make them feel happy and safe, as well as giving them the option of child led learning.
ABOUT US
We have been registered as a charity since 16th June 2021. Due to covid, our previous after school private provider could no longer provide a service to our families which prompted us, as a school, to make steps to providing after school care for our families. School staff help with the day to day running of Little Rainbows which helps the young children transition into the after school club setting much easier as they are familiar with the staff. We are now registered with the Care Inspectorate Wales and we are able to offer childcare services from 11.30 am until 5.30pm. We do have staff that are qualified to Level 3 Playworker.
STRUCTURE AND MANAGEMENT
The charity trustees are responsible for the overall management and control of St Mary’s Little Rainbows Charity. The day to day running of St Mary’s Little Rainbows after school club is run by Miss Amanda Watkins, Mr Harri Millington, Mrs Naomi Davies and Miss Lily Davies.
The after school club runs on site at St Mary’s Aided Primary school. It caters for children that finish nursery at 11.30am and the rest of the school that finish after 3pm. The club runs until 5.30pm daily.
Parents book their children into the club via an online form. Payments are taken with the ParentPay app and payments go directly into the St Mary’s Little Rainbows bank account. We are a cashless service and our staff do not accept cash. We only operate during term time and are closed during the school holidays. Our charity number is 1194811.
OUR FINANCES
The income for the wrap around and after school club is £4633 To use our wrap around service, we charge £14 per session which runs from 11.30am until 3pm. Parents can order a school dinner through catering services or they can bring in their own packed lunch. We are also registered to accept the Childrecare offer for Wales.
From 3pm-4pm we charge £4.50. 3pm until 5pm costs £6.50 and 3pm until 5.30 costs £7 with 10% discount for siblings. We are able to offer care until 6pm but we have no current parents requiring care until that time.
We have Care Inspectorate Wales certification and our number is CYM00005957. Our outgoings are just staff wages which are £ 7280. We have no overheads for rent, electricity or water because we are based in the school building providing a service for the children that attend St Mary’s.
Although there was a shortfall in our income for the term March 2023-2024, we are now registered with the Care Inspectorate Wales and accept the Childcare offer Wales. We have been offering a wrap around service since Easter 2024 and our rolling total outsets the shortfall and we are now making a very small amount of profit.
