To advance the education of children of Miles Coverdale Primary School.

**Summary of the objects of the charity set out in its governing document**

In this period under review, we raised a £15,000 donation in support of children with special educational needs at Miles Coverdale Primary School.

In October 2021 we made a £15,000 grant to the school to support the refurbishment of key learning and recreation spaces for the Resource Base, in order to offer children with special educational needs a better environment for their learning. The grant also helped the School to purchase SEND learning resources such as puzzles, counting mats and learning clocks, benefiting an even broader array of children.

## Section D                      Achievements and erformance p

**Summary of the main achievements of the charity during the year**

||Achievements andperformance|Achievements andperformance|
|---|---|---|
||By the end of December 2021, Miles Coverdale Primary School had<br>spent £7559.69 of our £15,000 grant on refurbishment of the facilities for<br>the Resource Base at the school. The Resource Base at Miles Coverdale<br>provides for twenty students, aged between three and seven years old,||
||with Developmental Language Disorder. While these students have||
||benefited daily from the improvements that have been made, some other||
||children in Key Stage 1 have also|accessed the classrooms during daily|
||phonics lessons, so have also benefited from the enhanced learning||
||environment and additional learning resources. More details on the||
||refurbishment is provided below.||
||**Outdoor space refurbishment for Resource Base Class E (£4,731.99)**||
||<br>Outside space was resurfaced with a softer/spongy surface to||
||improve the aesthetics and also to ensure the area is safer for the||
||children to play and learn.||
||<br>Installation of a ‘rainbow dome’ (a standing structure for children||
||to learn and play inside) providing a calm, sheltered outdoor||
||space used for learning, reading and play.||
||<br>Purchase of new outdoor learning furniture, to provide students||
||with different learning environments and experiences, supporting||
||students’ language development.||
||<br>Purchase of a ‘mud kitchen’ to support play, learning, storytelling||
||and language development.||
||**Classroom refurbishment for Resource Base classrooms (£2,827.70)**||
||<br>Purchase of new chairs and round tables for Class E. This has||
||improved the aesthetics of|the classrooms (the previous furniture|
||was very dated and old), making the space more welcoming. The||
||chairs provide more comfort and support for the students’ backs||
||and the round tables allow|teachers to sit with the children and|
||support them while completing their work.||
||<br>Purchase of new chairs and round tables for Class P. The||
||previous furniture was very dated so the new furniture has made||
||the learning environment more engaging and inclusive. The new||
||tables and chairs are more comfortable and size appropriate for||
||Class P children. The furniture is adjustable, resulting in the||
||students being more relaxed and able to work in a position that is||
||most comfortable for them|and conducive to learning.|
||<br>Purchase of new storage furniture in Class P in order to maximise||
||storage space available in|a very small classroom, providing the|
||students with more functional space, and creating a more||
||engaging, comfortable, tidier and accessible learning||
||environment. Resources are now stored efficiently and are easily||
||accessed by teachers and|students.|
||<br>Purchase of soft furnishings, such as carpets, to create distinct||
||and varied learning spaces for the students, within the classroom.||
||It has also made the spaces more comfortable and welcoming.||
||<br>Painting of the classrooms|(paint purchased with donation funds|
||but work carried out by the teachers during the half-term break),||
||creating a clean, fresh, inviting learning environment.||
||<br>Purchase of various SEND learning resources including learning||
||games, sensory toys, puzzles, counting mats, learning clocks etc.,||
||linked to the National Curriculum and to specifically support||
||learning and language development.||
