**Charity name: Ilkley Foodbank Charity registration number: 1194778**

## **Objectives and Activities**

||SORP reference||
|---|---|---|
|Summary of the purposes of
the charity as set out in its
governing document|Para 1.17|The objects of the CIO are seeking to
relieve persons in Ilkley, and surrounding
districts in West and North Yorkshire, that
are in financial hardship, need or distress in
such ways as the trustees from time-to-
time think fit, specifically but not exclusively
by:
a) providing emergency food, essential
toiletries and household items to individuals
and families in need and / or for distribution
by charities or other organisations working
to prevent or relieve poverty, and
b) such other means, including (but not
limited to) the relevant provision of support
or signposting to relevant information or
other advisory services as the trustees
shall think fit.|
|Summary of the main
activities in relation to those
purposes for the public
benefit, in particular, the
activities, projects or
services identified in the
accounts.|Para 1.17 and
1.19|The CIO runs from a building provided free
by All Saints Church, Ilkley which gives
dedicated storage and a one stop for
clients. Volunteers collect food from 3
collection points at local supermarkets and
stack goods in storage. Other volunteers
then staff the shop during designated hours
(Monday 2-4pm, Wednesday 2-4pm and
Saturday 10am-12pm) when clients visit
and receive their parcels. Spare food and
other donations (e.g. nappies) are sent to
other local charities. Money donated is
used to buy goods required in the parcels
to supplement items donated. Links have
been formed with DWP and other agencies
to provide advice to clients on site when
the Foodbank is open.|
|Statement confirming
whether the trustees have
had regard to the guidance
issued by the Charity
Commission on public
benefit|Para 1.18|All Trustees have regard to the guidance
issued by the Charity Commission on
public benefit.|

|Policy on grant making|Para 1.38|All donations from the Foodbank are to
similar charitable organisations, who are
assisting persons in hardship in nearby
areas or provide services to those in
hardship in Ilkley and the immediate
surrounding areas but are based out of the
area.|

## **Achievements and Performance**

||SORP reference||
|---|---|---|
|Summary of the main
achievements of the charity,
identifying the difference the
charity’s work has made to
the circumstances of its
beneficiaries and any wider
benefits to society as a
whole.|Para 1.20|The main benefit is the provision of food
parcels to clients from Ilkley and the
surrounding area who are suffering
financial hardship.
Client numbers clearly vary due to need but
over this financial year the number did
increase slightly so that in January the
Foodbank supported 73 households and
was feeding 200-210 people a month and
this figure had only reduced slightly by the
end of the reporting period. The Foodbank
has strengthened its policy re referral
following renewed links with local social
prescribers.
At Christmas the Foodbank provided 55
hampers to support 116 individuals in local
families, and those hampers in addition to
Christmas food also included 3-4 gifts for
each child in the family. The Foodbank also
contributed a large amount of food to Ilkley
Grammar School to support their hamper
provision.
A group of around 48 volunteers continue
to assist in collecting food and distributing
food parcels.
There has been a notable decline in the
quantity of food donations to the Foodbank
over this reporting period, which has
necessitated the Foodbank to purchase
more produce to support clients, alongside
a reduction in financial donations.
Whilst other local charities have been
supported with financial donations and
spare food (including other local
Foodbanks, women’s refuge, schools and
Bradford Babybank), the Foodbank has
had to reduce its financial support to those
organisations.|
