For the year 2024 Wellfield Church, Leyland Charity no. 1194776

Wellfield Church is governed by the Trustees. They form most of the ‘Leadership Team’, who meet monthly to organise the life of the church and its pastoral needs. According to the church’s constitution, new Trustees are appointed by a vote at the Annual General Meeting, for a limited term.

Through the year, the charity stuck to its objectives of advancing the Christian faith for the benefit of the public. New members were added; some baptised into following Christ. Particular emphases included Sunday meetings and youth work.

The church is affiliated to the Anglican Convocation in Europe, itself a diocese within the Anglican Network in Europe, operating within the Global Anglican Fellowship, which includes most Anglicans globally. The minister, Mark, is accountable to bishop Andy Lines, and has weekly contact with those within the Convocation or Network.

The work of the church does not generally appear dramatic, and 2024 included some very difficult times, especially the deaths of two members. However, much was also achieved through the teaching and pastoral care within the church and beyond. Some people found hope in life, in place of despair and emptiness. Others have become much more productive in their lives as a result of their new or growing faith. Still others have taken responsibilities of leadership for the first time in their lives. The youth group, in particular, has seen many new members, both on Friday evenings and Sunday mornings. A small evening congregation including a time for youngsters to learn to play music has proved popular for some.

During 2024, the Trustees continued to fulfil their duty to assess and refresh the various policies held by the Charity.

Responsibilities and basis of report Independent examiner's statement	I report to the trustees on my examination of the accounts of the above charity (“the Trust”) for the year ended 31/12/2024. As the charity's trustees, you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 (“the Act”). I report in respect of my examination of the Trust’s accounts carried out under section 145 of the 2011 Act and in carrying out my examination, I have followed all the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Act. I have completed my examination. I confirm that no material matters have come to my attention in connection with the examination which gives me cause to believe that in, any material respect: • the accounting records were not kept in accordance with section 130 of the Charities Act; or • the accounts did not accord with the accounting records; or • the accounts did not comply with the applicable requirements concerning the form and content of accounts set out in the Charities (Accounts and Reports) Regulations 2008 other than any requirement that the accounts give a ‘true and fair’ view which is not a matter considered as part of an independent examination. I have no concerns and have come across no other matters in connection with the examination to which attention should be drawn in this report in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
